Comments about BIG AGNES Insulated Q-Core SL Rectangular Sleeping Pad, Regular:

Getting ready to go to Philmont this summer with my son's Boy Scout Troop. Bought this as a lightweight alternative to my self-inflating heavy sleeping pad. I'm not going back to the self-inflating one. I tried it out on our shakedown trips so far. This was quick to inflate with a Big Agnes dry bag/inflator (that I got from another outfitter as EMS didn't have it) and I could finally sleep on my side without my hip and shoulder hurting in the morning. It kept me insulated from cold ground. I would recommend the dry bag/inflator as it saves your lungs when inflating it. My son was so impressed I bought him one as well and he loves it.

I wish it were textured as to reduce sliding between the the tent floor and the pad as-well-as between the pad and my sleeping bag

Comments about BIG AGNES Insulated Q-Core SL Rectangular Sleeping Pad, Regular:

I am a side sleeper. My hip dug through my 2.5 inch non-insulated pad, waking me up when it got too cold. I thought about the regular QCore, but it was too heavy for me. But the QCore SL is perfect. Regular size is listed at 18oz, but mine weighs 19.75oz including stuff sack and a repair kit.

It is 23" wide before inflation. But it is so thick that the width does shrink to 18.5" when inflated. This could be a problem for back sleepers due to arms/elbows falling off the sides. This is an excellent pad for side sleepers, where thickness and insulation are important.

About the Q pattern. I don't know exactly how it is constructed, but it feels more like a regular mattress. Most other pads feel like the rows of tubes that they are. But this just feels more like a normal bed.

Also, the fabric feels very sturdy. I also checked out the NeoAir Xlite, but it seems much more fragile, and very loud/crinkly. I really wanted to like the Xlite due to the weight, but went with the QCore SL instead and am happy with my choice.
