Comments about BLACK DIAMOND Gizmo Headlamp:

I chose this light because I was looking for something on the less expensive end of the spectrum for light use while camping. It's not amazingly bright, but it is bright enough to see where you're walking in the dark, though I would not want to use it for running or biking illumination--the beam range is just not far enough.

It is light at 58g plus batteries; the headstrap is nothing special but will keep the thing on your head. It has plenty of elastic adjustment so I imagine even if you had a big head (mine is small) it would fit. It has a clicky angle adjustment with sufficient fineness of positions.

The button is nice and simple: hit once to turn on to maximum brightness; hold to enter dim mode and release when it's dim enough for you; and hit once again to turn off. It has an auto-off after 2 hours.

It's a great headlamp for basic moving-around-in-the-dark kind of use, and nails all the basics. Plus, it comes with the two AAA batteries required (Energizer brand, too), which just gives it a nice little bang for your buck.

Comments about BLACK DIAMOND Gizmo Headlamp:

I have several older BD products, and upgraded to a Storm last year for winter High Peaks hiking. The Storm is an excellent light, but uses 4 AAA and is almost a little too heavy in the front NOT to have a separate battery pack in the rear. I purchased two of these Gizmo's for my small kids to use. They are MUCH lighter with an only 2 AAA design. For jogging, the Gizmo is marginal when moving fast. I did a 2 hr night hike, including 1 hr of bushwacking, and the Gizmo was decent. For serious adventures, I still want the Storm.
