Comments about DEUTER ACT Trail 32 Backpack:

After stealing my wife's ACT Trail SL pack for about a year, I finally got my own an ACT Trail 32. The pack is comfortable, carries well, but the best part are the great design/convenience features. It's the right size for most day trips, and can handle a bunch of applications. I love the double zippers on the back for complete access – it allows you to get to something stashed at the bottom of the pack without taking everything out through the top. The vertical side zipper pocket is great for separating water bottles or snacks, and the back pouch is perfect for stashing a layer on the go. This pack has allowed me to indulge my climbing shoe fetish (3 pairs each trip), pack for weather ranging from snow to high 80s, and bring all the other climbing gear for day trips!

Comments about DEUTER ACT Trail 32 Backpack:

I wanted a day hiking pack for winter (which is just about the only time I hike) that could also be used as an overnight pack on occasion, and this fits the bill. In winter, it won't hold enough for more than a single overnight, although you could probably get away with a multi-day trip in summer with this pack. It's a really comfortable pack - enough exterior loops for poles and an axe. Pretty decently roomy interior, although I wish the top flap pocket was a bit bigger. The hip belt is padded, which is a definite must. The exterior side pocket holds my 34-oz Thermos without any trouble. There's a stowed rain cover in the very bottom pocket - very handy. If I was designing the perfect pack, I'd probably have thrown on a few more exterior loops and another pocket, but... this one meets all my needs.
