Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Helix Bib:

Bought the Helix Bib along with the Helix Anorak Jacket. I love both of them. The bibs are great and proved to be fully water and wind proof during my last trip to the White Mountians in NH. I wore these bibs all day in pouring rain with an air temp in the high 30's and stayed warm and dry all day. The full side zip is great for putting these bibs on over large mountaineering boots with crampons or ski boots, and also helps if you need to use the restroom while on the trail you dont have to take the bibs fully off to do so. The 2 zippper front pocekts are great for storing small items like a point and shoot camera or snacks and the small chest pocket is great to keep snack bars from freezing. The suspenders are adjustable and comfortable with a sewn in X so they stay up and in place all day. The lower portion of the Bib, from roughly the knee down, has extra tough fabric to protect from crampons and Ski edges which proved to be a very nice feature. They fit true to size I am normally a 30x32 jean and bought a medium. They fit comfortably over a base and a softshell layer and are perfect length for me.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Helix Bib:

snagged these off the clearance rack last year. (orange trim, same pant) these things are quality and neoshell breathes like its supposed to. the fit is perfect for skiing, baggy enough to be stylish and move but not in the way. full side zips are nice and dropping the seat with the suspenders on keeps the pants up but lets you take care of business.

only downside is that i have soaked through a few times. i live in CO and on storm days resting your hands on your lap on the lift is enough to melt snow and soak through. same with wet chairlift seats and warm pow. you will get wet. on the plus side they dry fast. not sure if this is related to soaking through but the fabric in the crotch region has started to ripple and show signs of stretching.

the bib makes these feel warmer than you would expect for a shell and the suspenders in conjunction with a beacon and backpack make for a clutter around your shoulders. not the best for touring but for inbounds pow days these are my go to. low back with elastic is not the most comfortable, would prefer a looser design that is higher and incorporates belt loops.

if you get these plan on adding a pull to the fly zipper and installing snaps on the side velco above the zips to keep the waist tight when the zips are open.
