Dependable waterproof protection. Got caught in a downpour while backpacking in Vermont. These pants go on quickly and they provide good protection.

Hard to rate waterproofness as I haven't needed to wear them yet.

The only waterproof pants I could find that came in three lengths & I needed short

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Thunderhead Full-Zip Pants:

Decent rain pants; the material is great, but the fit is a bit off (slightly too big and long). I had a pair of Marmot rain pants for years, and will probably return to that brand again. That said, for the price, an "ok" find.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Thunderhead Full-Zip Pants:

I bought these several years ago as packable emergency rain pants when riding my motorcycle. The fit is fine, cut full to go over normal clothes. I'm 6' 190 lbs with a small bone build and the medium tall works just fine, giving me plenty of length to go over my ridin/hiking boots. The snap on the bottom gives a snug fit though I would have preferred Velcro for more adjustability. I've found the System 3 waterproofing to be efficient for everything but torrential downpours. I also hike but not as much as I used to; however I've found these to be practical as a wind break and general waterproof pants. These have proven reliable though not quite up to the quality of the highest price brand names. But dollar for dollar they are hard to beat. No I wouldn't go on an expedition relying on these, but for the casual or weekend hiker, I think they are just fine. As far as for motorcycling they seem to do the job when used in combination with a proper rain jacket that protects the crotch area from dreaded pooling that defeats all but the best gear and even then there are no guarantees. So yes, I would recommend to a friend with the caveats I've mentioned.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Thunderhead Full-Zip Pants:

Everything about these rain pants is great, as long as the white coating stays in place. But in the seat and crotch area, it starts wearing off pretty soon, and it just gets worse over time. They're still OK for hiking and skiing, but if you're paddling in wet weather, your butt will get wet.

I have lots of products with zippers that connect up and go easily. These zippers are not handy. You do have issues like this buying online.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Thunderhead Full-Zip Pants:

Nice rain pants at a good sale price. Waist is elastic and not very tight. Might begin slipping as the elastic wears. No options for cinching it tighter, no belt loops. Full side zips make these less packable than those without. As most people say about most rain pants: Why do they make them sooo long? Overall, I'm satisfied at the sale price I paid.
