Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Wheeled Camp Duffel:

Size restrictions on certain domestic flights in Australia prompted us to look for something smaller than our usual travel luggage. This was the largest wheeled duffel we could find that met QANTAS and JetStar requirements. We bought two, and they worked well. They roll easily and held everything we wanted to stuff in. Despite rough handling by airport personnel, they made it through looking like new. The red color made them easy to pick out on baggage carousels. Zippers worked easily and handles held up. Only two issues, really, and they're general duffel issues:
1. they don't stand up, so at car rental counters, etc, you either have to lean them against something, or bend over to lay them flat then bend over again when you're ready to move on. I played a game with myself, trying to stuff things in in such a way that the duff would stand up. A couple of times, I succeeded.
2. you can't find specific articles of clothing in them unless you unpack completely. I found myself pawing through everything trying to find a pair of socks or a certain shirt. There's probably a clever way to pack (separate plastic bags for each type of clothing - socks in one, shirts in another, etc.?), but I just resigned myself to making a mess when I wanted a particular item.

Holds more than you think it could

By SDRunner

from San Diego, CA

Pros

  • decent quality
  • good zippers
  • Large Capacity
  • Rolls easily
  • Telescoping handle

Cons

  • Needs Larger Pocket

Best Uses

  • Hauling gear
  • Longer trips

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Wheeled Camp Duffel:

I use the duffel for trips of about one week or so. It holds a LOT. It rolls smoothly and easily and seems well-constructed so far (I have only used it on one trip). The telescoping handle works smoothly,
The biggest downfall for me is that it has only one very small outside pocket. I prefer rolling duffels to have large outside pockets for toiletries. Other than that, I am pleased with it.
