Step 1: What to Bring
Step 2: Where to Meet
Step 3: Release Waiver

Step 1: What to Bring

The Schools will provide participants with technical climbing and paddling gear for each activity unless otherwise specified. Clothing is generally not provided and we expect you to arrive properly dressed for the activity you’ve registered for and the days weather. It’s important to read through the gear list carefully prior to arriving at your destination. Please do not plan on outfitting yourself in the morning when you arrive.

Below is a link to our gear list page. Please take a few minutes now to locate your gear list and review the items you will be responsible for bringing.

All participants receive 20% OFF SHOPPING AT EMS to help get properly outfitted. The discount can be used as many times as you wish up until 30 days after your activity date. To redeem your 20% discount print the PDF attached to your confirmation email and present it to the sales associate at checkout. A discount code is also available on the PDF for online redemption.

Step 2: Where to Meet

Most of our programs meet at established Eastern Mountain Sports locations. However, there are a few activities that require us to meet at a trail head, parking lot, or boat ramp. Take time prior to leaving home and locate your meeting location on a map and have directions handy. Please refer to the PDF attached to your confirmation email for information on where to meet. Below are directions to our main locations.

>> North Conway, New Hampshire

>> New Paltz (Gunks), New York

>> Lake Placid, New York

>> Lincoln Woods State Park, Rhode Island

Step 3: Release Waiver

Release waivers are required for all participants in order to participate in any Schools activity. Waivers are available when you arrive for your activity and guides will ask you to fill them out prior beginning the day. Participants age 17 or younger must have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver. If you are 17 or younger and traveling alone or will not have a parent or legal guardian present on the morning of your activity, please download a copy of the release waiver below and bring a signed copy with you. We do not allow participants 17 our younger to participate without signed consent from a parent or legal guardian.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are 18 or older, or are traveling with a parent or legal guardian, you DO NOT need to complete this step now. You will have the opportunity to sign the release waiver when you arrive at your destination.
