Comments about GRIVEL G12 New-Matic Crampons:

I have used the the G10s in the past and wanted to update with the G12s. They are a high quality brand although I haven't used or owned any other brand. The G10s I had took a beating and continued to be functional.

Comments about GRIVEL G12 New-Matic Crampons:

These are the best all purpose crampons. Easy to secure and very comfortable. They are versatile as well, I have used them for both general mountaineering and vertical ice climbing. The new design eliminates snow clumping under the boot for much better traction. The only drawback is that they are pretty small. If you are a man using a plastic boot and have a larger size foot (11+) you will probably need the extender bars in order to make the crampon fit. These are cheap (~$20) and easy to install, but it is kind of annoying that Grivel bills them as one size fits all....an extremely optimistic outlook in my opinion.

Comments about GRIVEL G12 New-Matic Crampons:

These are some excellent crampons. Replaced my G10's with the classic binding with these. Between the combination of the New Matic bindings and my Koflach Vertical plastic boots the speed of getting into and out of these crampons is unbelievable. Climbed Wright Peak in the Adirondacks with these last week in the rain/sleet and the peak iced over with 50mph winds and was able to summit safely. Wouldn't have made it without. This is the best piece of gear I have bought in the past year and thats saying a lot.

Comments about GRIVEL G12 New-Matic Crampons:

Used these in the Whites, New Hanpshire. This year the front points on the G12 seem to be reduced. For mixed climbs with lots of ice more front point would be advantageous. Great in the mountains.
