              Comments about HILLSOUND FreeSteps6 Crampons:

Just picked these up and tried them out the same day. I went trail running shortly after a snowstorm that deposited about 3-4" of packable snow. The Freesteps6 held up on all terrains, from loose gravel (with snow), to rock faces covered with ice. In short, I never lost my footing once due to the snow/ice.

However, the one small problem with the Freesteps6 is the tendency for snow to build up under the heel and toe. In each section, the chains come together and form a circle. Within these circles, the snow would slowly pack up and become the size of a golf ball. A quick kick against a tree breaks up the snow balls, but it was a bit frustrating to stop every mile or so.

Overall, I really liked them and will continue to use them!

                Comments about HILLSOUND FreeSteps6 Crampons:

Ordered a couple pair of these for a friend and I to use on snow hikes when the snow isn't deep enough for snowshoes. We got a chance to use them on a recent 10 mile mountain hike in eastern PA. Snow depth was 3 inches at the base, and 5 on the summit. We wore them the entire distance over ice, virgin trails, packed trails, and some rocks. With plenty of spikes on the bottom, they really helped over the entire length of the trip. Neither one of us slipped much at all, especially on the decent which had some steep sections. The extra spikes on the heals help us from loosing our footing and sliding down them.

Before making this review, I closely inspected my pair, and they held up great. Still look like new. I'm sure they will last a very long time.

The only very minor issue we had were that each of us lost one of the red plastic pieces that attach to some of the spikes to prevent snow build up. No big deal though, they still worked fine.

Good for icy areas. Traction was confident. Knew grip would hold going down steep slopes.

                      Comments about HILLSOUND FreeSteps6 Crampons:

i am using these for winter trail running. so far i am very happy, they go on & off easy and provide excellent stability on hard packed snow and ice. i have the large and wear a size 10.5 brooks cascadia. i have had the toe tread slide just a little on the shoe when the terrain is off-camber. however i can put up with a couple adjustments to be on the trails in the winter.
