I bought this product to use with Garmin eTrex Vista HCx GPS unit -- I liked the quality of the GPS unit so much I figured maps from Garmin would be of equally high quality, which is why I bought from Garmin instead of DeLorme. I wanted to use the maps in a variety of dayhiking, fishing, and flatwater paddling situations, so I'd have the convenience of lots of maps in a small unit.
After everything everything was loaded onto my GPS unit, of course the first thing I did was check my immediate location. The map got the name of my street wrong, and nearby it showed a street that doesn't exist. Well, every map has at least one error, right? But then I checked several other locations that I know well, and in half the cases there were serious errors. The worst error was two rivers that came together to form a stream -- that's such an obvious error that it's pretty clear that no one actually reviewed these maps at all.
Additionally, I was not pleased with the topo data. The contour interval is fairly large, which wasn't a dealbreaker for me. But when you zoom in to a map, the contour lines are jagged instead of smooth. The topo data might be adequate for driving, but is completely inadequate for even the most casual hiker.
At that point, I decided that I couldn't use the software for my intended purpose. In 30+ years of outdoors life, I've learned that it's not wise to trust inaccurate maps! But a casual user who didn't care too much about accuracy and just wanted to use the maps for fun might find this acceptable.
