The curved shaft and balance are ideal for vertical or near-vertical ice, and the finger guard is great for leashless climbing and protecting your fingers. The quick-release leashes are also a big plus when setting up ice screws.

Excellent for moderate to hard ice-climbing. Comfortable grip, good balance. I tried several tools in Adirondacks and Catskill and these were the best. Won't work for mountaineering, as it's bit too havy and not very good for snow belay.
4 seasons of use and still love them

Tried and true, climbed up to Grade 5 leashless all season long. Spike on bottom of griprest is still effective at piolet canne. From grade 2 gullies on Katahdin, Washington and Webster to steep ice at Frankenstein and Willoughby these tools have truly become an extension of my arms.

I tried them out at the Ouray ice festival and have been very impressed. One can use them leashless or with leashes. Excellent for water ice.
