I was looking for a good fleece mid layer that could be worn by itself as well. The lack of adequate wrist closure really prevents this from becoming that jacket for me. The upper arm sleeve pocket is just a silly idea. Even a small cell phone there is uncomfortable.

I was looking for a wind resistant jacket and decided to try this one out. It is a great jacket for what I need it for. I bought it on sale and had a coupon also which I used and ended up getting it for half price which only adds to the bargain I got, a quality jacket at a great price. If you decide on trying this jacket your best bet is to try it on first because it runs a little smaller than the size you would normally wear.

I was on a month trip through Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica during February, from sea level to 4,400 meters. We hit rain, snow and very cold temps in the evenings. This jacket was great because it is light yet protective from all the elements - especially the wind. The best part was that when we hit the beaches, this jacket didn't take up too much room in my pack!

This is my second EMS fleece, my last one lasted over 5 years and I still use it occasionally. Works great in cool to moderately cold weather especially walking around a windy city. The only con I have is that there are no pockets inside the jacket like my old one, but thats not a huge problem.

This fleece is AWESOME! I used to work in the industry and the features it has are absolutely perfect and well thought out. I use it to wear while I'm at school in North Dakota where the wind chills are regularly in the -30f range and it stops them no problem.
Fits great and is soft. Used it as a sled the other day down a hill a couple times and it held up AWESOME!
Highly recommended.

I have many EMS brand items that I love. This jacket seems well made, but I had some issues with the fit. The chest sizing is OK-trim, but with some room for layering. The big problem I had was the length. I am not tall. The length was barely to my waist. The jacket rode up past my waist when raising my hands above my head-letting cold air in. A tall person will really have a problem if the S/L sizes are like the Men's M. Also, for me, the arms were way too long. I understand they are designed to be longer, but ..... It was odd the length was so short, yet the arms so long. I would suggest EMS lengthen the jacket. I can have a tailor shorten the arms. But, and this is why I love EMS, I was able to exchange it with no questions asked for a TNF fleece jacket-which isn't wind proof. Oh well ....

The jacket has very little warmth value, and it's difficult to comfortably wear something warm under it. However, it does look good and would be great for spring and fall.

This is my 3rd EMS windbloc jacket. The 1st was given to my mother in law (it also didn't have pit zips). The second one didn't have the abrasion patches on the shoulders and was showing wear. I still have it, but it was time to upgrade. So far this seems to be the ticket. The only minor issue I have is it looks like it will be difficult to put 3mm perlon through the zippers for pulls.

Only recommended if you have a short torso. Not super breathable, but maybe that's to be expected with windproof fleece. The pit zips are good to have.
The fit is close but not tight - I can layer a midweight fleece beneath it and a rain shell over it.
Overall, it's a fine jacket. Unfortunately, the torso is so short that the hem easily rides up and let's in cold air, even when the drawstring is pulled.

I to had a problem with the size, didnt have the med, so i had to settle on the large. it is a bit big on me but it does have draw cords at the base to make it tighter around the waist area, the arms are a bit long too. but on the pluse side i just went bikeing with temps 32'f with a wind speed of 14 given a real feel of 19'f...Boy the wind never got in and i was toasty warm with just a long sleave on under it!! wind stoper does work!!

EMS needs to develop a mini-large size. The medium is too tight, but the large is a tent. Also, the sleeves are much too long.

I really wanted this jacket. My size was not on the rack at the store so I had to order online. The sleeves of the appropriate size were too narrow around my forearms... and I'm not Popeye! The sleeves of the next larger size fit better around my forearms but were too long. I had to return the jacket. Because I did not experience the function of the jacket in windy conditions, I rated it as average.

The jacket fits well, and appears to be quite durable. I wore it recently when working outside in cool weather, and was satisfied with its performance. The one downside is that it's much less warm than the EMS WindStopper fleece that I bought a couple of years ago. I don't think that the jacket would be a sufficient middle layer for activities in cold temperatures (<20 F).

I have yet to really test this jacket out but just using it on it's own the Windstopper fleece really lives up to its name. I recently took it above tree line in the White Mountains and I didn't bother with my heavy insulation until I stopped to rest or it got REALLY cold. I am extremely happy with it in that respect.
However, it does not seem to fit well around the waist. Backpacking with it, the waist belt bunches it up. I wish there was some sort of elastic or the same nylon material use in the shoulders in that position instead of the fleece. The little EMS badge that is glued on the left arm is already falling off after only three weeks. I guess it's only a nuisance if you can't stand the little triangle of dry glue it leaves behind. (really, what is the point of this? Spend another three cents sewing it on if it's that important). The pockets are also poorly placed. The hand pockets are virtually inacessible with a pack on and the left bicep pocket is virtually useless due to its size, or lack thereof.
All in all, I am happy with this purchase. I didn't buy this jacket to use on it's own all the time. I have a feeling I will grow more happy with it once I pair it with the Program jacket and Heater insulation layer to round out the whole system. If you regularly hike in a windy area such as the alpine zone in New Hampshire then you can't go wrong with this item... just find a good shell to keep it under.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:We did have a small batch of jackets where the logos were coming unglued. Note our Guarantee
