These matches are pure garbage and should be dropped entirely from EMS' product line. besides the aformentioned short comings, the wood is flimsy, matchsticks break with frequency while trying to light them. They're twigs!!! don't even stand up to the very lightest of breezes. The matchheads lack size and uniformity and the matches are very inconsistent. Quality control is non-existent. This is NOT the type of product I would expect EMS to carry. Fire is one of the "Ten Essentials". EMS is doing a dis-service to its customers by not having a quality alternative offering to choose from. I Can't /Won't trust or use this product anymore.C'mon EMS, you can do better than this junk. Your buyer needs to get on the ball and look into this."Waterproof"?...NOT!
These matches are terrible across the board. The strike surface turns to mush with any dampness. Worse is the very poor quality wood that is extremely easy to snap. I keep a box as a backup but they are not anything I would rely on
I stuck a box of these in my pack for a hike. It wasn't raining, but it was snowing and pretty clammy for the entire hike. When I got home much of my gear was wet from condensation and melted snow, including the matches, so I decided to give them a shot. Low and behold the striking surface on the matchbox had turned to mush and each time I tried to strike a match it just balled up and peeled off the box without sparking the match! Unbelievable for something whose sole purpose is to work when wet.
The wet matches did light up just fine on dry boxes. I had no luck striking the matches on other surfaces (rocks, etc.) Just amazing. I would say they're worthless for their intended purpose.
