keeps hot things hot and cold things cold for hours i love this for winter hiking even though its a little bulky and i like going on the light side but other than that perfect thermos with great poor spout and cup to go along with it
This miserable thing leaked chicken soup all over the inside of my pack. Why doesn't EMS carry the Thermos/Nissan brand anymore? It's far better.

When I read the description and learned that this bottle is made in Switzerland I was hooked. But when I looked at the item in store I was a bit confused. The item exposed poor workmanship, rough metal sheet forming and cheap design (the top opening is very wide which reduces thermo efficiency). I looked at three bottles before I found one without visible weld seam imperfections. And I thought that it's not how the product made by highest European standards should look especially from the country famous by its fine metalwork crafting. I looked around the box and found what I expected – the bottle made in China. Nevertheless I bought it and, when at home, put it on test against my 12yr old made in [...]Thermos [$] which got its plastic cup cracked. I filled up both bottles with boiled water and let them stay outside for 7 hrs with average temp about 28F. Then I tested the liquid. In both bottles the liquid was nice and hot but absolutely drinkable without cooling it. Apparently this Big name bottle does not reveal any Big performance. [...] poor workmanship with somehow average performance. And shame on Sigg for speculating with its great name, making low quality products and definitely overpricing it.
This thermos performed well in my 'back porch' testing. I put 210 degree F water into the unit and placed it outside on my deck overnight in the middle of winter. The temperature was 20 degrees F, the wind was 20/25 miles per hour and the thermos was fully exposed. The wind was blocked some by trees but basically a strong breeze/wind was active all night. In the morning, after 8.5 hours, I brought the thermos inside. The outside of the thermos was freezing/very cold to bare hands. It also felt very slippery due to the smooth surface and the coolness. I measured the temperature of the water inside and it was 165 degress F. Just a bit too hot to drink immediately! I have no doubt that in a backpack this thermos would maintain adequate heat for longer than 8 hours. I did not test the ability to keep liquids chilled. One concern is that the surface is so smooth I may wind up dropping this a lot. It would have been nice if there was a thin rubber membrane around it. Also, it feels like the external walls are thin and that if it is dropped on rocks it might dent easily and potentially leak the vacuum seal. But this is just an impression, I have no experience with the durability as of yet.
I have been nothing but impressed with this item and its performance. I had it out on a climb this winter when the weather was brushing -32 with windchill in the white mountains (not uncommon i know) Even at the end of the day my cider was hot enough to scald my tongue.

I roast my own coffee beans so I am very picky about being able to drink my brew. I checked a number of popular consumer brands searching for a container that would provide me with sufficient volume (3 good sized cups) and maintain the warmth through the course of the day. This Sigg is a home-run as far as I am concerned. I carry it to my office with me and it is perfect. It meets all my needs and was worth every penny. It is visually pleasing and does not stand out as some vacuum bottles tend to do.I highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed[...]!!
