Got bag to replace my old (and too small) TLD bag. I like that I can carry my 15"laptop, clothes, couple books/mags, two water bottles and misc personals on business trips. Also like that it makes a great trail bag for long days hike/bike and carries enough to work on trail all day and is very comfortable. Dislike that the outside strap to hold helmet interferes w/outer zipper.

I use this bag for travel, as well as day hikes. The mesh front pack is great for throwing those last few hard to pack items, and they remain secure with the pull tie. Only negative is the center pocket is a bit inaccessible. Other than that, a great pack!

Beware! When you first put this backpack on your going to wonder about the staps! BUT, have no fear, the new gear style supports rigid straps. Wear the pack for a bit, and stretch the staps out (they were tight on my neck), soon though (with 1-2 wears) you'll love the straps. I have no issues with the straps anymore, they take weight off you body, and help balance the bag. So far I love the bag as I can use it for just about anything, and would recommend it to a friend

Great backpack but waterproof outer zipp
By KaviVerified Purchaser from Troy, NY on 10/9/2007
Pros:
Comfortable, Good padding, Great for trail running, I love this bag, Large capacity, Very adjustable
Cons:
Outer zipper broke, Should be more rugged
Best Uses:
Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking, Overnights, School bag, Trail running, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a great bag if you want one for trail running that doesn't bounce, it gets a bit warm though. I like the space for two hydration bottles and storage for first aid and other items. I don't like to run with "fanny packs" but the chest and hip straps on this bag are perfect for keeping the bag snug against your body and makes moving very easy. As a woman, was surprised at how well it fit...the chest straps are adjustable so that helps.I'm contacting [...] tomorrow about the broken zipper, it just stopped working and I've had it for less than a couple of months.

Poor choice of draw cords for side mesh pockets. Would benefit from elastic top. Overall great bag though.

Pros:
Quality Pockets
Best Uses:
Day trip, Hiking, School

Bottom Line:

Good quality pack with plenty of storage room and pockets for keeping stuff organized within the pack. Zippers have held up well with no splitting thus far with decent sized loads. Good for day packing and daily school use. I carry a lot of heavy text books daily and havent had any problems. Outside mesh is just a little short for securing my Nalgenes as well as I would like. Other than that, no complaints.

The Recon North Face Daypack is the most flexible pack I have ever purchased. It is tremendous for carrying all of my school supplies, including my macbook, and the tightening straps keep the bag close to you, not having it sag and weigh you down. It is extremely well padded and very comfortable. It is very durable and the color selection is great, there's something that will match your tastes perfectly. I recommend this to anyone who needs a very solid pack, with loads of room and comfort. Defiantly five stars!

Well this is a very nice pack i love the bottle holders better and deeper then my old pack have never had a bottle fall out, even when i run with it. the only thing i dont like is the compartments on the inside are a litttle to lose and sometime my stuff get moved around but otherwise a great pack. i mostly use it for college and i can fit all my text books and notebooks inside and dont have to worry about the zipper breaking, it awesome.

Rugged. Well-designed and built. Large capacity--for just a solitary day hiker, it's too big unless you're packing a picnic for 4 or lots of specialized equipment. I'm using it for grocery shopping from a market I bike to--this item could easily make the entire Appalachian Trail from Ga. to Maine. Would like to get it out in the woods some time.

The straps really make this back-pack the best. They provide excellent support and keep the pack in one place when one is hiking. THere is no need to hold the straps close to your body to keep the pack from sliding off of one shoulder....very helpful when you are climbing up a rock!!

Pros:
Good Padding, Highly Adjustable, Laptop sleeve fits my mac, Large Capacity, Lots of internal pockets

This is a great daypack. I use it every day to carry my work gear. It commutes in my car or on my bike, it's like a briefcase that I can wear. I picked up a second Recon for hunting. It's a very durable pack, and very stable with the waist belt and sternum straps fastened. I give it two thumbs up.
