The 962 XT goes on quickly and easily, and it appears to be quite stable. However, if you have a low-clearance vehicle (i.e. a compact car) and mountain bike frames requiring frame adapters, I would pass on the product. When all is said and done, your bike wheels hang only a few inches off the pavement in back. One dip in the highway, and you might have some major issues. I think this product is a better fit for road bikes.

I have been moutain biking since 1990 in Vermont. I have used a road / tri bike since the mid 90s. I am not the fanatic I used to be, but like to get in some rides now and then for recreation.
I no longer have the spare tire mount option. I also do not the hitch from a tow package to put a rack in on my vehicle.
I have the roof racks, which on even a small SUV are hard to get to in comparison. But, the roof rack on my Xterra is where my bike goes. But, after two bikes go on the roof, you need more room for the rest of the bikes.
I needed something for my kid's bikes. This seemed to be a quick solution. It does fit 20" boys bikes good. It does not fit 20" girls bikes, let alone 16" or smaller bikes well. OK, thats an under statement. You will be happy with the rack when loading adult bikes. You will not notice a big problem with some 20" bikes. But you will be swearing by the time you are done trying to get the kids small bikes on.
So, bottom line,
its a good rack, and fits and works just like is should for adult bikes. It is a quick solution to not using a roof rack, and not having an external mounted spare tire or a tow hitch.
But...
I am at that stage where the kids bikes are not the tiny ones that fit in the back of my vehicle any more,
and they are not all the adult sized that fit on a rack properly.
So, in a few years, when they all have bigger bikes, the rack will be peferct for me.
But, if you are looking at it for kid's bikes, the bike racks are just not sized well for such small bikes.

Product took about 2 minutes to assemble/click into place. Very sturdy. There are anti-sway clips I have not used yet that came with it, but did not have a "swaying" problem with the bikes. (I guess that depends on what type of bike you have.)
This rack is so good I think they could have gotten away with calling it the 963XT rather than just the 962XT. I, for one, wouldn't complain. It's that good.
Wonderful bike rack: very stable, no scratching, easily adjusts to fit both my sedan and hatchback. Pedals also stay well away from the bumper. No worrying about the bikes on the back of the car anymore.
