I used this rack during an 8-hour drive, and found out (the hard way) that if you have the bike in the wrong direction (front wheel to the left vs right) so that the angle of the bike places that tire closer to the exhaust pipe, the tire will burn! This design seems rather disappointing, because some of the newer subarus even have exhaust pipes on both sides of the car, so there would be no way to avoid burnt bike tires!
During another drive, two of the rubber straps that secure the bike came off, at separate times, almost causing the bike to fall off. Now, I can only carry 1 bike, rather than 2, because I don't have straps for the 2nd bike!
