I'm a seasoned runner (old guy). I can remember 10k races where they called out splits from a stopwatch and handed out popsicle sticks with place numbers at the finish line. This product brings me into the 21st century. I can get mileage, altitude, pace, heart rate charts and a map of my course after every run or bike and it's simple enough for a technology challenged guy like me to use. I know there are more features that I need to learn, but the easy basics are pretty detailed.

I love the features on my forerunner, enough that I am very unhappy when I have to run without it. That is why it is so frustrating that it is back in the shop again, second time this year. When I called this time they asked me if I had gotten it wet. I wanted to say, um, do you know what this product is supposed to be used for? I love it, I just wished it didn't break so easily. Its not like I swim in it, or even run in the rain if I can help it. But I can't not sweat!

Pros:
Compact, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Long Battery Life, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls, Strong Construction
Cons:
Lack of Color Display
Best Uses:
Biking, Exercise, Running, Skiing, Snowmobiling
Describe Yourself:
Professional
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The product is great and amazingly accurate. It so accurate that it can display when I've made a turn and I'm running on the opposite side of the road. The only real down side is the watch itself is difficult to see and isn't always displayed. All other functions are simple and it has many more functions if using as a true training tool. A color display would be nice but really isn't necessary. I very much enjoy having this tool as part of my exercise routine.

This is a great product.

Pros:
Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls, Strong Construction
Best Uses:
Biking, Hiking, Running
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Forerunner 305 is great for running and is very accurate concerning heartrate, distance, speed. The computer applications are also work great. The only aspect that will slow you down is when it has to connect with the satellites and it is possible to skip that step if it is not needed in a particular activity. Once the satellite connection is made it is very rarely broken even when under big trees and around tall buildings.

"your heart rate is too high!"

Comfortable HR strap, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls, Strong Construction

If you use it correctly, you'll quickly realize how beneficial this piece of gear will be for your training. Pre-programming workouts to keep you in a heart rate, speed, or distance zone will make or break your workout if you're the kind of runner who wants a specific workout. All of the settings are adjustable so if you just want to go for a run and know how far you went, you can do that too. The auto pause and auto redeem is an awesome feature but can be annoying if you're going through rough terrain and slowing down frequently--but then again you can adjust the settings and/or turn off the alert all together. This training tool will make any serious runner an exceptional runner, if used properly. Though it's bulky, given what it does, it's not bad and it's really lightweight so you are not constantly aware that it's there.
