No, I would not recommend this to a friend
After returning a Magellan unit, I was excited to try the Colorado. The very first thing that I noticed was the inaccurate positioning. My position was about 100 feet off.Within a week of purchasing, the unit failed to start up. It was determined by Garmin that they needed to work on it, so I sent it in for repair. It came back three weeks later, and worked for a day. The wheel suddenly stopped working. Garmin suggested I return it, [...].Now trying the Oregon.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:Sounds like a combination of a manufacturing defect on the clickwheel the need for the 9/11/08 firmware update. It looks like you've moved on to the Oregon, but just a reminder that in the future Eastern Mountain Sports stands behind our gear. We're glad to exchange this product so you have one with a working clickwheel, and a recent update to the firmware should fix those lockups. In terms of positioning, GPS position signal does vary, and according to Garmin "A WAAS-capable receiver can give you a position accuracy of better than 3 meters about 95% of the time. The 100 feet off you report is definitely outside those parameters, but accuracy on GPS units does vary with conditions. The bottom line is we hope you're happy with the Oregon, and if you're considering the 400t, we encourage you to give a try, as you can see below there are other satisfied users!

This has been great for geocaching and the caches are very simple to load one at a time. I love the paperless feature! It's been a little difficult to figure out how to load several caches at once though, since I don't have previous experience with the GPS. Overall it is very easy to use and has lots of cool features. Unfortunately you cannot delete geocaches without hooking it up to the computer.

Awesome screen and maps and real nice connectivity to Geocaches - simply click "Add to Garmin" on the Geocache page and it is on my device. The GPS receiver has wonderful reception compared with my Garmin Vista. It even works in my house. It is, however, a bit pricy and more of an indulgence than a necessity
