I use this as bow running lights for night paddling (red/green, port/starboard, forward 240 degrees). I found it necessary to add electrical tape inside the "crystal" to "black out" the aft 100+/- degrees and the aft top to keep from being distracted/blinded by the light --- this modification saves my night vision and maintains my visibility to others (typical running lights per CG). Perhaps a small, white stern light (on the stern of the kayak, facing aft 120+ degrees) would complete the ensemble.
a provision for horizontal mounting would be nice -- then no need to mask 1/3 of the light!
waterproof, reliable, good battery life as promised. Lo-Hi white light settings + white strobe are potentially useful. NB: strobes are only legal on the water in an emergency. I also carry a powerful headlamp to "wash" the decks with light to make myself maximally visible in a pinch.
magnetic connection to suction cup base works well.
this unit is MUCH LESS BULKY THAN MOST OTHER UNITS I have found.

Apx size of a red bull can. The lanyard and suction cup are pretty awesome though. It doubles as a flashlight, but I dont think its bright enough in comparison to much smaller models. Also you can get a much smaller strobe w/ higher brightness; same price. Not bad overal.
