This is my first head lamp, but I couldn't be happier with it so far. I've used it for night hiking and for auto repairs as well as night kayaking. Unbelievable brightness for such a light unit, you barely know you have it on. Would recommend it to anyone.

I own about five different headlamps. I bought this one as a backup lamp for my outdoor activities and camping. My main light for hiking/backpacking is a Princeton Tec Apex. I bought the Tikka Plus to use it around camp and for trails where I did not need a really long beam focused lighting option (like the Apex).

Compact desing, light weight and simplicity are the main reasons why I like this headlamp. Also, this light has an amazing battery life compared to the output level.

On a side by side comparison, this light is less white than the Princeton Tec. So, contrast and visibility of Tikka Plus's light is not as good. But for the price and weight, thats a fair compromise.

I even use this light for winter bike commuting. I had to buy a second Tikka Plus for my son, cause he liked the Tikka Plus better than the Princeton Tec Aurora he was using before.

Overall, a nice headlamp.

i think this is my fifth headlamp in as many years, so i've seen all the options and although i love the dual light beams from my black diamond, this tikka plus is a cinch to use! i like the way you click between beam options, much easier then the other headlamps i've had.

"I've already purchased two!"
By SwimmyVerified Reviewer from Annapolis, MD on 1/2/2008
Pros:
Adjustable Beam, Bright, Durable
Best Uses:
running
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use mine for my dark early morning runs in the winter. I love the freedom of not having to wait for sunrise, and I love the adjustable beam. Last week I ran one particularly foggy morning and while the high beam blinded me, the low beam worked great. I love this so much I purchased one for my husband! All my running friends use it as well.

Absolutely love it. Great on the trails in the early morning when there isn't much light. Receive lots of questions and comments on how great it is and where they can order one! Thanks!

What a great light. Bulky headlamps are a thing of the past. There is no excuse not to have a new headlamp in your pack. I've had this one since June. I used it all summer long, and still haven't switched the batteries yet, so don't worry about carrying extra weight with extra batteries. I love this headlamp, its incredibly bright if needed and it dims so you don't go blind in the tent. The only draw back is teh colors remind me of the late eighties. Is plain black or solid colors too difficult?

I purchased 25 of these headlamps during an extended power outage this past winter. The nurses loved it. Generator power did not cover inpatient rooms so these headlamps allowed for hands free patient care into the evening. Excellent light source that provided the ability to clearly see and care for the patients. I purchased one for myself only after the comments I received from the nurses that used them. [...]
