I've had several headlamps over the years and the Apex Pro is by far the best. It is extremely bright and will not give you headaches like some heavy headlamps can. It can surely take a beating and still keep on shining. I've dropped mine several times and it just doesn't quit. The two side beams have two brightness levels which will help you conserve a little bit of battery (but it lasts so long you probably won't need to worry about that issue), and the main beam also has two brightness levels. The side beams can also strobe just in case you want to get someone's attention if you are lost at night. A small light on the top of the lamp lets you know how much battery you have left. I would recommend this lamp for anyone who is looking for a superb lighting source.

I use this head lamp for just about everything. I hate to use a flashlight if I know I will need the use of both hands for whatever it is I am doing. The apex pro headlamp solves that issue with an extremely bright beam from the center led light and it lasts for 15 hours continuously, something no other lamp can do. I have used lamps before with a center light that work off of 3 watts, and they normally either shut off automatically after 20-30 seconds, or you have to hold the button down. The addition of a heat sink to disperse the heat created by the 3 watts used in the center light lets you keep the beam going as long as the batteries can last.

The weight of the lamp is almost negligible. On even a long night time hike (10-15 miles) I never feel it weighing on my head. This is due to the small battery compartment. Although the power pack is small, the 2 lithium batteries inside it pack a huge amount of power.

The two choices of beams(central flood light and wide angle beams) make for a very versatile head lamp. I can either shine a very bright point of light at my target, or dim it down but still keep the single beam. Then I can turn on the wide angle lights and the central beam automatically turns off, saving battery life. The wide angle lights illuminate the center of my point of vision extremely well, all while shining light on my surroundings, which has saved me from walking into poison ivy on several occasions.

The apex pro fits my head perfectly, and adjusts so that any of my friends can use it without discomfort. One feather that appeals to me about its fitting is that the battery compartment slides around to the side of my head. This is great since I like to lay in my sleeping bag and read a little before I go to sleep.

This headlamp is fully waterproof up to 1 meter and extremely durable. I tend to be clumsy and break things quite often if they are flimsy to begin with, so I love it when a manufacturer recognizes this and caters to my need(which I share with countless others). When I am hiking I rarely let the weather get in my way, who would? When a nice sunny day in New England starts to get cloudy and pour rain I am pleased to know that my headlamp wont fill up with water and fry out.

I have not found any con's with this headlamp yet. I've dropped it several times on rocks and concrete and barely even a scuff mark has shown up on it. bulbs still work great, and its on the original batteries still
