I bought this hip pack in preparation for a Grand Canyon Rim to Rim trail run, and wrote an earlier review after some training runs. Now that I've used the pack for my Grand Canyon run, I thought I would add a few more comments.
The pack worked great on the run. I really like the way it holds the bottles securely so that they do not bounce while you're running. I think it has to do with the angling of the bottles and the additional bottle tightening straps. The side pockets are great! In the Grand Canyon, there are regular spots to refill the water bottles, so the two water bottles were sufficient for the 24+ mile run. On a training run where I ran 18 miles with just the two bottles I was dehydrated by the end. So I would use this pack for runs of less than, say 10 to 15 miles under normal conditions, between water stops.
works well
In two weeks I am running the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim. I needed a hip pack that carries sufficient supplies but does not bounce around while I run. I tested the GoLite Pack on an 18 mile run in the Olympic Mountains of WA state. Worked great! The water bottles did not bounce up and down like they have on other hip packs I've tried. I had a camera in one of the side pockets, and GU packets in the other. In the compartment between the bottles I was able to pack a surprising amount: first aid kit, bandana, sandwich, cell phone, mp3 player, knife, map, and a few other items. It passed the test! Now we'll see how it does in the GRand Canyon!
Stays where you want it. Plenty of storage space, 2 bottles for longer runs.
