What can I really say about them that you haven't already heard? They're all but indestructible, mine has been dropped more times than I care to say, rolled down flights of stairs, fallen off rocky ledges, you name it. They do scratch, but that only gives them character. I also like how they don’t take on the taste of beverages put in them, from juice, to cool aid, Gatorade, to pop/soda or anything you could think to mix in it. I prefer the wide mouth because it makes it easier to clean, just get the splash guards or you might end up wet.
They also work well to keep things you don’t want to get damaged or wet. I have some small ones that I keep batteries, matches & shampoo in, and I’ve never had wet matches or shampoo all over everything even after it’s been in checked luggage on a flight.
I recommend them to anyone.

The bottle is almost unbreakable. We have shot this with a 30'06 rifle, and the bottle was scratched but not broken. Very good for wilderness and white water. Serves it's purpose very well. The cap is more likely to break than the body, so be more careful of the cap. I use this with my ROTC unit, and it has held up well.

I have six of them i've used them for backpacking, mountian climbing, on rivers, sports, I use them for everything. I dont go on a trip without one. For anyone that says they're unbreakable i've broken four of them (but not due to lack of trying for most). My only complants are that they melt easy and are hard to clean if you let them sit for a few weeks with a liquid in them. If you want them to retain heat or cold put them in a sock. They are good for a whole bunch of uses other than holding water. So, over all Nalgenes are exellent.

Lutenin is the heaviest and hardest of the rare earth elements, it is a substance with a melting point of 3006 °F, a boiling point of 6156 °F and it is what I presume the good people at Thermo Fisher Scientific use to make Nalgene bottles. Or maybe they use plastic. Regardless, my personal Nalgene bottle has been thrown from cliffs and dragged behind a moving truck the distance from Canada to Anchorage, Alaska. It remains an intact and enduring symbol of product quality.

I put in driving under best uses and then realized that I don't use this great bottle when I drive because the bottle doesn't fit the cupholder. MAJOR DESIGN MISS. The largest volume selling minivan series, Chrysler's line, and this design team didn't think about testing the fit. The bottle could have been made slightly taller combined with a smaller diameter to get the best of both world's. Also, the lid hinge is very stiff so the lid stays in an awkward position to use one handed. This will probably go away with use (I hope). Still a great bottle.

This is just the right water bottle for whatever. I use it at work in the police car and when on carpet cleaning jobs. On the weekend it straps to my motorcycle for day trips. If you think you want one, a week after using it you'll be glad you bought it and will have long forgotten the money you spent on it.

I have had my Nalgene bottle for years and years. I love it so much I really want to get another one, but I'm cheap, and I don't buy duplicate items. I keep hoping my old one will break or crack or something so I can get a new one, but it hasn't. The thing just won't die. It's easy to clean and hold, and it holds a great amount of liquid. I bring my bottle with me everywhere - it sits on my desk all day at work, goes to the gym, rides along on car trips, etc. I have only ever had a problem with spilling while drinking when I wasn't paying attention or if being jostled while drinking. Otherwise, it's just like drinking out of a cup. Have used mine for so long that all the numbers have worn off the sides. Also very glad that replacement lids are available, as I melted mine in the dishwasher - needs to go on the top shelf.
i would buy this product again

Cons:
Can't really think of one
Best Uses:

I read a lot of people complaining about spilling, I have to say, I've got a couple of the 32oz wide mouths that I've had for 5 or 6 years, and never had a problem with spilling as long as I keep the cap tight. Now, if they changed the design, I can't really back anything up, but it doesn't look like they did. I guess I'll just have to go buy me a new one to see :-) Just wanted to give you a kudos nalgene...
Broke after less than a year
By M
from RI on 12/9/2006
Pros:
Its great until it breaks
Cons:
Breakable, Plastic taste
Worked great until I dropped it and the bottom of the bottle cracked off, for something that is supposed to be unbreakable it shouldnt break when dropped from about 4 feet onto a wooden floor.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:Very true...every blue moon a nalgene breaks...it's sort of the imperfect world...screws fall out all the time scenario. Feel free to exchange your bottle for a new one.

I also bought the half pouch to put my bottle in and it is NOT insulated like I was told it is. My Nalgene bottle leaked from the cover and when I put it in my half cover, it also made everything in my bag all wet and ice didn't last long like I was told it would. I am disappointed. Sorry to say.

Best water bottle I've owned
By Tesla coil
from Bellevue, WA on 10/4/2006
Pros:
Durable, Well Constructed
This is a great water bottle, and well worth the money. My only complaint is how it drips all over the place when the cold water inside condensates. It's nothing a coaster or paper towel can't fix, but it's still annoying when the bottle drips everywhere. Otherwise, this bottle is great.

Pros:
Durable, Well Constructed
I used two of these for winter mountaineering. I had never used them before, but definately better than a normal water bottle that would melt if you put hot liquids in it. Combine it with an EMS H20 Cooler that fits ferectly on these and keeps drinks from freezing. Downside is that you will spill on yourself when you drink out of it.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:The wide mouth bottle opening has been prone to spilling for years, that is until the invention of the splash guard. As featured in the 2003 Backpacker Gear Guide. The no-splash way to drink from your Nalgene wide-mouth bottle!
Opening sized for kids and adults
Compatible with Nalgene® 12 oz. MiniGrip or 32 oz. wide-mouth bottles
Does not hold odors or tastes and is dishwasher safe
Intake allows user to fill bottle while Splash Guard is inserted.
Sips like a coffe cup and all for $3.00. Check them out!
