I use this everyday and love it. Even when traveling in Europe I could pick it up a day or two later and it would still be cold and taste good.
Though the cap does screw on tight, I use a carabener clip on the cover to open it easier and to clip on to a bag.
I have had this for a year now and tend to bang it around a lot, and only yesterday it dented for the first time when i dropped it from 5 feet onto cement.

I definitely like it. I wish they had more patterns for the larger bottles. Also, mine came with a dent in the bottle due to shipping - showing that it is not quite as durable as I had orginally hoped - i'm used to using a nalgene and it's a good alternative.

The SIGG bottle is a beauty of Swiss engineering to behold. Drawn from a single piece of aluminum, the SIGG bottle's shapely form will draw plenty of admiring comments. As far as taste goes, the impervious ceramic lining leaves no off-tastes or odors at all. The bottle seals tightly, is easy to grip, feather-light, and has interchangeable caps.
Being opaque means your beverage of choice is unaffected by the sun, but some prefer to be able to see what's inside. Your call. On the downside, the bottle is tricky to clean, difficult to pour into, doesn't retain heat and requires insulation to handle with very hot beverages. The bottle also dents readily when dropped on hard surfaces, although it won't shatter and remains perfectly usable.

These are so cute (bought 2) and keep the water fresh tasting. Plus it makes me feel better with all the nasty things going around about plastic bottles.
The weirdest thing was reading the information about it that was attached to the bottle. It tells you basically not to put juices or sodas into it or it will erode the lining. I was thinking I might put milk or OJ in it, but now I am just sticking to water.

I bought this bottle after the big plastic scare a few months ago. We still use the Nalgenes but not as much now. These bottles are very durable and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. I haven't put it to the test but I would bet that these hold up even better than the plastic ones too. They come with a normal screw on cap with a lanyard hoop but you can buy other caps to use. I would recomend this product again and again. My biggest complaint is that they do not retain their temperature when in the sun - they heat up rather quickly. They are a little pricy for a bottle...but sometimes you pay for what you get. This should last you forever for sure.

I have used Sigg bottles for years now and had only good experiences with them. My oldest one has now over 10 years and it's inner coating is still fine despite various dents it got over time; it keeps the water as fresh as the first day.
I even forgot fruit juice once in it for a long time which fermented and it never left any residual taste in the bottle.
I have a stainless bottle that I kept juice in over a weekend trip and it ever since got a slight taste that I can't seem to get out. It now carries dog water...

In a society that frowns on the re-use of plastic bottles this is the best alternative I have found. Very stylish and attractive designs. I bought 3 and plan on buying more. I had the black bottle in the hot AZ sun at the river four about an hour and my water stayed cool. My one complaint is the screw top. It is very fidgity and can only be screwed in if placed in a certain position prior to starting the cap. Needs a little refinement in R&D. Great designs and functionality.

I used my Sigg for every day use and brought it virtually everywhere with me. It's a great bottle, especially in regard to the other bottles on the market, however, I did have some issues with mine. I only used mine for water, so I never had an issue as far as retaining the taste of my beverage, however I did notice that it would sometimes retain odors and tastes from chapstick or food I had eaten prior to drinking from it. Also, I brought my Sigg on a trip with me and packed it into my luggage. I know my bag must have gotten banged around a lot as several things were broken, but my Sigg did not hold up well at all and now has a huge dent in the side that makes it almost unuseable. Additionally, it did not retain temperature well (I did not get the sleeve for mine) and often produced condensation when I put cold water in it. Despite these complaints, I would still recommend this bottle and will probably get a replacement for my old one as most bottles have the same issues and do not compare in other areas.

We use our SIGGs for hiking/camping as well as everyday use. They are extremely easy to fill and you can drink with no spills. The only con is that we currently only have the screw tops, so you have to unscrew to drink and then screw back on. I've heard tale of an "accessory" pop top, but haven't searched for it yet....
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:Sigg makes a Sport Top which will fit and replace your current screw top. Pretty handy really...would certainly save you the frustration of unscrewing your the bottle every time you get thirsty! Let us know if you'd like more info on them...888.463.6367.

The only choice of top for the graphic I picked was the screw top. We bought another Sigg bottle with the sport top which we like much better. The graphic was not as cool "in person" as it looked on the website. [...] a dent in the side which does not affect function now but leads us to believe it would be vulnerable to worse damage with more active use.

Aside from this bottle getting a ding in it (which was understandable, considering I dropped it, full of water, from a height of 4 feet, onto a tile floor), it has been great. Not only do I love the aluminum-incased-in-shiny-laminate look, it also fits perfectly in my pack. Although SIGG won't say exactly what their plastic liner (inside and outside) is made of chemically, they do claim on their website that it is pthalate-free and does not leech into your beverage like Nalgene, etc. tend to do as they get older and more worn. If you're an uber-purist, go for the Kleen Kanteen which is all stainless steel. I like the portability and design of the SIGG better, however. Plus, no other jug can say it can literally stand up to a cannonball. This one can! (see SIGG's website)

I was once a dedicated plastic water bottle user, having about a half dozen of the bottles. After finding out about some of the harmful chemicals in heavy plastics, I was at a loss of what I should do for a water bottle, using plastic store bought bottled water was not going to fly. After doing a little research on steel water bottles, all signs pointed to SIGG Bottles. An incredible buy, its safe, durable, and could even be descrived as a fashion statement (due to the varying colors and patterns)!

I've been worried with all the negative comments about plastic used with food and water that I've heard on the news. I thought this was going to be a great alternative but I was extremely disappointed. It's hard to drink from unless you get the sports top, the water is warm in one hour and you have to be very careful not to dent it. It's going back to the store for something less attractive but more useful.

I recently purchased this bottle after reading a couple science journals on the danger of reusing plastic bottles over a long period of time. Prior to my SIGG bottle I have always used Nalgenes or army surplus plastic bottles. Although the sig bottle freezes much faster than a nalgene overall it is a better bottle for camping and for my health. I would definately recommend it to avid hikers. It also has a small opening to avoid spilling water, which is preferable to a Nalgene. It can also be washed without leaking toxic chemicals, which occurs when you wash Nalgenes in a dishwasher.
It was just what I thought it was.

I use this product for everything from hiking to backcountry skiing. The best thing about this bottle is it's weight and profile which are essential for packing. Only downside is stuffing fresh snow into its small mouth while in the backcountry.

This is a great bottle no matter what activities you participate in. It is lightweight, durable, stylish, and doesn't leave any flavor residue. Simply rinse it out with water and its ready to go again. It is easier to drink out of than my widemouth lexan bottle and with a little practice I am now able to open it and drink with only one hand. I would highly recommend this bottle to anyone.

These bottle seal perfectly, and impart no taste to the contents. Do you need to take care of it? Of course. If you throw your car around, guess what? it also dents. And, these bottle aren't insulated - who said they are? Read and understand what you are buying. these are the best for carrying water around, and the quality is unequaled. we have several for different length trips.

This is a good day trip or picnic size bottle, especially if you're able to pour into cups. I've tried taking it to work and the gym, and it's a little awkward. It isn't unmanageable, but the .6 liter size is better. The design is beautiful, though. I get compliments on it whenever I take it anywhere.

Stopped using the Nalgene bottle. Tried this as a replacement. I do like the taste issue, as there isn't any. But I'm finding that the small mouth is hard to get ice cubes in or to clean. Lot of turns to get the stopper out, not as easy as the quick couple of turns like with the Nalgene.
very happy with this bottle

i decided to quit buying bottled water, and wanted something non-plastic for everyday use. this bottle was a find! i use it when walking, indoors, everywhere. i got the sport cap thinking it may be hard to drink from, but was wrong. the only downside is that when out in the hot sun,it doesn't retain its cold temperature well. i mean, it is a black aluminum bottle. but in all other conditions(camping, hiking, around the house) its kept the water nice and cool for hours.

I don't much care for bottled water -- too many environmental downsides (plastic, why are we transporting heavy goods from overseas, tap water is tested, etc.). And I live in a city with really good tap water. After the various reports about bisphenol leakage from plastic/lexan bottles, I started to look at metal "canteens" -- and the Sigg bottles are really beautiful! I picked up a 1.0 liter for using at home as a test, and I'll be getting more. The active top, which I picked up as an accessory, is great - no leakage & easy to use, plus I don't drop the screw top overboard when I'm getting a drink in the middle of the night. Water doesn't develop a metallic taste due to the lining. The various patterns available are a nice plus. And of course it's long-life, durable, and recyclable. All-in-all, a great product!
