The Steri-Pen was a gift yo myself. I have filters and tablets but I wanted something simple, light and reliable. The Steri-Pen in testing worked as advertised. Interestingly enough when I tested it on our friends tap water
the taste improved after using the steri-pen. I liked the adventurer model because its lighter and seems more rugged. Used as directed I would say its one travel companion I would not leave home without.

I also bought the solar charger at the same time I bought the SteriPEN. I already owned the larger SteriPEN model, and liked the convenient size and field-recharging capabilities of the Adventurer.

After four days backpacking in the Grand Canyon and treating lots of water we were so happy not to pumping and carrying a 2 lb pump. Another benefit: this is a water purifier not a filter. [...].

A great product. Worth the price!

1st Time AT Section Hiker
Bottom Line:

We did 4 days on the AT in Virginia. Dry as a bone for 30 days, we were told to pack in all the water we'd need (right). Anyway's we hit the trail and needless to say it poured buckets for two days. The water from streams was as good as any you get in a bottle. I had no worries at all about the quality of what we drank. Less than a minute and we were good to go. It was light to carry, worked like a charm and I slept great knowing we drank good clean and safe water. I would strongly recommend this product to any one depending on water out on the trail.
