Metal pictured is much darker, then how it came, no big deal.
This is a high quality knife, period. It opens and closes easily all with one hand. It never sticks and it cuts beautifully. I couldn't be more happy with it. I would buy this knife again if I had a need to but I think it will last a very long time. It is a quality piece of equipment. AND it's made here in the US!
Ilove this knife. Its lightweight and very sharp. During a week long hike on the NPT in the ADKS members of my group kept asking to use my knife rather than their own. The speed open blade makes it so quick to get the job done. Highly recomended.
I'm a boy scout and whenever something needs to be cut, like a rope for example, i pull out my Scallion and use the speed-safe opening to get the job done while everyone else is still fumbling with their two-hand opening swiss army knives and knockoffs.
One of the Best knives I have ever owned,
Kershaw has the best customer service around
I bought one about 2 years ago and fell in love as far how easy and convienant the knife was. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster with my Troop and I have given it as a reward/gift twice and it is a HUGE hit with the older Scouts that have it. I currently own 2 my self. I prefer the Scallion over the Leek due to size. The Scallion has a shorter blade and having the 1/2 flat blade 1/2 serrated blade is very handy. I noted in the cons about no Locktite on the screws for the belt clip. The first one I owned 2 screws fell out. I called Kershaw directly about the problem and they sent me the screws with locktite on them quickly and free of charge. The Scallions I have purchased since have not had that problem. Kershaw explained that one of there first batches made got through with out the locktite and the small issue has been fixed. Also, the lock (which is a small plastic piece at the tip of the blade when closed) broke. However because of the of the flip open, single hand design it stays closed by it self. There is one flaw that has only happened once since the lock broke. I was scrambling up a small hill slipped and fell on the side where the knife was stored clipped onto my pocket and the blade opened. I was not injured but now I keep that one in my left pocket puched all the way back, but I mostly use the one that is not broken. So, if something like that happens the pocket will help keep it closed. Also note that the lock IS replaceable. I have got around to it just because I have the other to use.
I love this knife and any one who could possible use a knife should own th SCALLION.
