I use this with the Hulavator, I can easily place my Pungo 120's on this rack with no problems. I slide them from the rear of my Escape. The cost is lower than most of the other units. Got mine on sale, love them.

Great kayak rack for most.

Pros:
Ease of installation, Space Saving, Sturdy
Best Uses:
Recreational Paddling
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

This is a great, space-saving rack for large and small kayaks. We have two vehicles, one with a stock rack and the other a Yakima. The universal clamps don't work very well on the Yakima round bars. They tend to want to slip so I wouldn't recommend them for Yakima, but for others they are great. If you have a tall vehicle and a heavy kayak, like we do, you will probably need to use stools or ladders to lift the kayak over the small lip on the front. Once tied down though, the rack is very sturdy.

Quality + efficiency
By Family KayakerVerified Reviewer from CT on 3/21/2007
Pros:
Lightweight, Rugged
Best Uses:
Rapids Paddling, Recreational Paddling
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This set up is quickly installed / taken off the rack; It is also ergonomically easy to load kayak from the side;

Secure and sturdy boat-holding with good straps and ratchetting tie-downs included in package, stable at high speeds;

As a bonus it efficiently uses rack space, allowing more equipment IF your roof can take the load!

A little pricey, but you get good stuff for the money.

Good product very stable, love tiedowns
By knut2650 from OH on 12/13/2006
Pros:
very stable easy use
Best Uses:
all kayaks

This is a very stable and well designed carrier. The mounts can be used on both thule and Yakama (round bars). Although they can rotate durring kayak mounting on the round bars, but not a big deal. They are also capable of mounting on most factory racks. The included ratcheted tiedowns are a huge bonus and the best tiedowns I've used to date.
