Rust stains all over car top

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Nice, functional design. Not a perfect fit for all boats. Fittings rusted quickly after first use, liberally coating my new car's roof with rust. Research at EMS stores, among kayakers, and other kayak stores suggests this a consistent problem with this rack system. Only way to use it is to replace nuts, bolts, etc. with Stainless Steel. Would be better if Thule simply used appropriate materials for this expensive rack system. BTW Yakima BowDown rack seems to avoid this problem and provides a more flexible fit for a wider array of kayaks.

Would be better if it did not rust

I got this and instantly had rust stains all over my vehicle. Overall I am happy with it, but Thule needs to do something about the rust. I am recommending it, but with the caveat above.

Bought 2 sets for my Thule bar. Very easy to install and setup each time for use. Cleans easily.

This is a great rack for any Kayak, it went on easy, and once the boat was loaded held prefect. I have played around with foam pads, and other racks for years, and noticed the time spent on the tie down the kayak took to much time, and depending how you did it would always get the indention in the bottom of the kayak, after a long drive in the hot sun. It attaches and makes loading the boat easy, leting me fit two boats on a small honda accord roof.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the face that there is no lock down for the kayak rack to the roof rack, which when living in Brooklyn NY comes into factor do to the ease of stealing it. Besides that its great
