Salamander has come up with a very comfortable and compact belted tow line. The webbing belt is adjustable to fit almost any size waist and has a light but reliable plastic buckle. The storage bag is permanently attached to the belt and has two closures on the end. A small pocket holds the aluminum carabiner in ready postion under the velcro flap. Thirty feet of floating rope can be daisy chained and easily inserted in the bag. A generous portion of strong bungie is included for a comfortable pull.
I am not always comfortable with a tow line bag riding behind me as it may inhibit bending backwards for a roll or brace. I find that this Salamander tow bag is compact enough to wear on my left hip where it is quite accessible without brushing my elbow while paddling.
I added two items to my Salamander almost immediately. One is a small plastic ball on a string attached to the belt buckle for a really quick grab and release. I also added a very small oval shaped float to the line just above the carabiner to keep the line from sinking. These two improvements make this a perfect tow line belt for me.
