This truly is an amazing jacket. I've used it backpacking, hiking, fishing, and on rainy days. It offers good protection without the weight. It also rolls up nicely into its own hood. I would recommend this for backpackers or even anyone who just wants a jacket to keep themselves dry in nasty weather.

This was a replacement PreCip jacket. The lining in the neck area wore off making the jacket useless for rain protection. The new jacket is a different design with a real protective collar and the ability to roll up the hood and thus protect it. I expect that it will wear better but we'll see. [...]

I wore this jacket for the first time on warm drizzley/rainy hike up North Twin. I was dry for most of the hike. Rain, warmth and sweat eventually took it's coarse, but I thought this jacket breathed and kept the rain out as good if not better than other GTX jackets I've worn. I also like that it is very lightweight and fit perfectly.

This jacket kept me dry during a 4-day foul weather camping trip. It was extremely lightweight and fit perfectly with or without layering. I stayed dry through 3-1/2 inches of rain so it does what it's meant to. The only downfall I see is the lack of pockets which could come in handy with a 70lb pack on. Great value and highly recommended.
