This is my second Giro 9. i have used my old one for 4 years and the velcro ear flaps finally gave out. I will use my old one with no flaps or vent plugs in the sping and the new one for cold weather. Great helmet!
measuring just the head at the forehead is not enough, The helmet came and fit on my head, but was not "tall" enough. i.e. the ear flaps did not cover my ears. The [...] store, which didn't have this size (L), did have an XL, and they let me return this mail ordered helmet in exchange for the one that did fit. And they refunded me the difference in price, which was very nice of them. This is a reason to buy from an established company rather than some fly by night outfit that might save you a few bucks.
This is a lightweight, very protective helmet that once you have it on for a few minutes, you really forget it's on.
Helmet is comfortable and fairly warm as well. This is the first helmet I've tried and I am very satisfied. Be sure not to order too big--it should stay on when you turn your head upside down and shake, even with the chin strap off.
I shopped around a ton for a helmet and this is what I chose. I have never looked back. It's fantastic. Lightweight, comfortable, you can ventilate it more or less depending on the foam plugs you pull out of the holes on the top, and the earflaps are removable. Even with them in, you can still hear perfectly. I thought I would hate wearing a helmet but it makes me more confident and comfortable on the slopes and is just as warm as wearing a hat.
The padding layout did not work well for me; there is a rigid part on top of the head.
Do try any helmet thoroughly before buying. There's not much that can spoil your day like uncomfortable gear.
Great all around helmet
