After years of shivering through cold nights during winter camping with my scout troop, this bag finally let me sleep through the night. This year's Klondike camping trip found us waking up in the morning to 5 degrees, but I was warm and comfortable snuggled inside my new Mountain Light 0 degree bag. [...]

I'm more between the comfort driven and the minimalist. The bag keeps me warm in the colder
temperatures. I only wish it packed smaller.

Great value in a 0 degree down bag. I simply removed the internal flap shock cord.

Pros:
Compact, Easy to pack
Cons:
Cold at 10 degrees, Cold spots
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Definitely would not consider this a 0° sleeping bag. This is more of a 3 season 20° degree bag. If you think the night is going to get cold, this is not the bag you need. Cold spots are constant even if moderately cold. If you want a nice 3 season or a nice 0° bag, this is not it.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:We appreciate your review and understand the bag did not perform to your satisfaction. However we strongly feel our O degree Mountain Light Sleeping Bag is not only a great value but is every bit a 0 degree bag. We stand behind our Satisfaction Guarantee and would be happy to discuss all of your options with regard to returning or exchanging it. Some things to keep in mind with relation to sleeping bag ratings...There are many variables involved that influence user comfort, including not the least, intrinsic metabolism and physiology, which vary greatly from user to user. Consider also that an individual user may sleep warm one night while sleeping cold another night, even when environmental conditions and sleep systems are equivalent. Add to all of this the effects of a user's daily caloric budget (calories consumed versus expended), clothing worn, and amount of moisture in a sleep system (e.g., from condensation of perspiration vapor), and you have a process of such complexity that it has baffled the world's best physiology modelers for years. To "rate" a sleeping bag is simply an exercise in comparing the relative performance of similar systems under a fixed set of conditions. It's a tricky business...but we feel our bag ratings hold up and are consistent within the industry. If we can help contact us at 888.463.6367.

[...] I have used this bag on trips west and to Michigan's U. P. To top the performance of this bag you need to spend a lot more money to pack smaller. Shell resists condensation drips inevitable in cold weather, packs smaller than most 20 degree synthetics. Compressed it belies its loft once removed from stuff sack. You will be glad you made this purchase, use the money saved for a good pad.

I bring the [...] mtn lght 0 degree out nov - may. i have never been cold in this bag.(as long as macthed with a thermorest)the draft collar and hood keep heat sealed in. The pertex quantum shell has also stood up to quite some condensation. my only gripe is the compressiblity.

good price; temp may be slightly over-rated; long size provides good room for boot/liners but a bit too much room in the torso for average size six footer for a winter bag

I love this bag! My husband and I started backpacking and wanted to save some space and weight in our packs. We spend summer vacations in Yellowstone at higher altitude where nights can get below freezing. We're not ounce counters, and after purchasing a 15degree bag for him, seemed still too light for me. I decided to get a 0degree rated bag and almost bought a $350 before finding this one. I liked the idea of a full length zipper so I could vent my feet if I was warm. The outer fabric is great - repels moisture (though I've not spilled anything on it yet.) I can't imagine how a bag could get any better. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone wanting a full zipper and looking to save a little money.
