I'd give 5 stars, but I'm not a snowshoe expert and haven't tried a lot of other brands. I've dabbled in snowshoeing, but these shoes have me excited. I'm most impressed with the binding system which is simple and effective. The shoes worked great on trail and off into untracked snow that was fairly deep. I'm about 180lbs with all my outside clothes on and was carrying a 30lb camera backpack. Flotation was good and the maneuverability of the shoes was fine despite my concern about this in a 30 inch long shoe. I even tackled a couple of steep pitches and once I got used to making sure I was using my toes to dig in, it worked great. I think you'd be very happy with these as all around shoes.
I was the best gift-giver this year!

These were a gift for my husband, who at 50 years young is now retired but not sitting on the sidelines! We both bought Tubbs about 5 years ago, but this year I wanted to upgrade his for his adventurous treks through the beautiful Berkhshire Mountains. My only regret is that I not out there with him as often as I would like~somebody has to work!

I like how simple they are to get into and out of. They feel good on my feet and are easy to move around in. I have groomed my own trails and they work perfect, no complaints.
We would buy Tubbs snowshoes again

We purchased two sets of the Wilderness snowshoes enticed by the added bonus of also receiving two sets of telescoping poles from Tubbs. These never materialized ,so we feel we cannot honestly endorse Tubbs or EMS for not taking a stand on this issue dispite e-mail to both organizations.
