I was ice climbing in the Adirondack's, and needed to break trail in the deep snow to the base of the climbs. I was impressed with the light weight, and ability to get in, and out of the snowshoe. If you plan on steep climbs, go with the EVO Assents. They are the same thing, only with a locking mechanism on the heel.
We used these in fairly icy snow. They had great traction up hills and across traverses. They are really easy to put on and adjust to a comfortable position. These are so much better than the 15 year old snow shoes I used before.

Have used these for 3 winters hiking mostly in the Catskills, on trail and off. Traction is excellent, so is durability. I don't baby them, I weigh over 200 lbs., and they still perform like new. These are way better than traditional snowshoes in almost any mountain situation. The only drawback I have discovered is that they don't offer much flotation. Can't have it all, I guess.
You can take these things anywhere and they hold up well. Very stable with an excellent binding system that keeps snug and tight. It's by far the best binding I've used and I've tried a few. Don't let the look of the binding fool you, the elasticity of the rubber binding keeps the shoe right where you need it. Give them a try, I'm sure you'll like them. Oh, and get the tails if you want to try powder and weigh over 125 pounds.
