I have two pair, Evo Acents and the Denali's. Because the Denali has an eight inch tail, it is better in deep Utah Powder for my 185 lb frame than the 6 inch tails on the Evo's. They both are great shoes, and several of my friends have switched after using mine. Because of their light weight and the way they knife through deep powder, they are way less tiring than conventional snowshoes. Even my grandkids, who have Redfeather's, prefer to use Granpa's MSR's. They are also exceptional for Spring Ice Fishing when it gets a little slushie.
I've snowshoed for years and MSR's are in a class by themselves.

Bought shoes and tails and went on 2 winter/alpine
trails 8mi/each in the White Mountains NH and lost a tail each time. I guess due to the fact I'm a big guy (250 lbs+) when I step into a gully the shoe collapes and the tails fall off. I'm going to return these and pick up a single frame style.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:Definitely not the shoe for you. Please do return these for a pair that will work for you. Please call us in customer service @ 888.463.6367, check out our website www.ems.com, or visit one of our EMS Retail locations if we can assist you in any way.
Noisy, but otherwise FABULOUS!

After reading [...]review on this site I decided to purchase these for my boyfriend. We also snowshoe in NH! Perhaps the perfect snowshoe EXCEPT for the noise factor. Since we like to view as many animals as we can when we hike, these unfortunately don't allow us to creep up on them. Aside from that, these are probably the most user-friendly ones we have ever owned. They are incredibly stable, lightweight, compact and make walking virtually effortless. Next on the EMS shopping list -- a pair for myself!

I got these snowshoes for my photography trips to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. The snowshoes worked really well for me. I weigh in at 225 and carry about 20 lbs of camera gear. I logged about 15 miles during my Yosemite trip and the Lake Tahoe trips about 10 miles. They have good float in deep snow, especially with the extension tails. My only complaint is that my feet tend to shift in the bindings. It has been a bit hard for me to get the heel strap tight.

After two trips to RMNP, these snowshoes have performed well. I was worried about their plastic construction, but I'm starting to think that the plastic's flexibility may actually help their overall durability.
I listed "fall off easily" above because a friend who bought the same snowshoes has had problems with the rear strap coming undone. I haven't had the same problem, so it may be operator error. Time will tell.

These snowshoes are remarkably effective for such a small footprint. They support well in deep snow without using the 4" extensions I got with them. The best service is on hard-packed choppy snow bordering on icy conditions.
I didn't like the bindings too much so replaced the ones that came on the snowshoes with ratchet buckle bindings. The heel strap is the same on the new bindings as came on the originals.
Super all-around snowshoe.

These snowshoes responded great to every condition I threw at them, from six inches of packed ice and snow up the side of a mountain to four feet of snow and ice with a 40 pound pack on a week long thru-hike.

These snowshoes were purchased for my son and I chose them because I love the current pair of MSR snowshoes that I already own. I will be replacing the other family members Tubbs with MSR as required. Excellent product for our families winter AT treks(15-45 miles and 1-4 nights),our favorite season to hike.

This shoe is great, especially for the price. I like the fact that it's "convertible"- you can take the tails off if the snow's packed, assuming you need them at all. I weigh 200-250 lbs., depending on gear , and this shoe holds me up several feet of powder.
These make a little more noise than conventional shoes, especially on crunchy snow.

The bungee straps make it necessary to undo at least 3 straps to get out of these, but besides that they're great snowshoes!
