Backpacker Magazine, Jan 2007 says the following about the Big Agnes Big House 4
"Plenty of mesh keeps things cool, two doors ensure ample access, and a built-in welcome mat reminds kids to leave muddy boots at the door. The three-pole configuration is easy to set up and results in a palatial 5.75 feet of headroom."

motorcycle camping. set up easy, stopped the rain from hurricane Ike. My brothers got wet:) Had bronchitus for the 5 day outing and did not get worse. door flap kept out debris and mud.The tent was tight and kept out bugs. All bugs. Great room for older campers that like a tent that you can stand up in and put on your pants and boots. Like the side pockets, having all the space for your stuff you have to get to in the middle of the night. The screen is cool in the hot mountains of north Georgia. lots of room for kermit chairs, and Expidition air mattress's. The sky lite is great with a full moon or when raining. Bring it on, Big Agnis will take it on. Just a great tent. Spent a lot of time sorting thru the rest and settled for the best<:)

this tent has me very sceptical. It is the only tent I own out of 6 units that dosent have a full coverage rain fly. this concerns me. the tent is a snap to set up. it has a very basic and usable floor plan. the zippers on this tent love to bind up and probably arent going to last very long. I typically use my tents on VERY long atv excursions in canada, and this tent will be staying home. I am planning on buying an EMS nova 4 instead. My EMS super nova 6 is the cats meow. just large and heavy. I think the big house 4 will be very well suited on the shelf in wal mart- a family camping situation with the SUV nearby indeed.

Eastern Mountain Sports Response:We certainly understand your concerns about your new tent. Couple things to remember…your valid skepticism is exactly why we have our Satisfaction Guarantee. We want you to feel confident about shopping with us and we'll take care of you if your gear fails to meet your expectations. Also…just because the Big House doesn’t have a full coverage rain fly doesn’t mean it isn’t completely waterproof. Not to mention Big Agnes has made great gear across the board from the day the company was born. That said…the EMS Nova 4 is a fantastic tent as well…and no matter what you settle on…we’ll stand behind our Satisfaction Guarantee either way.
