The tent is solid. The hammock is solid. The rain fly does it's job. The only problem occurs putting all three of them together. Part of the intrigue of this product was that you could set up the hammock INSIDE the tent and the rain fly. Thus, hypothetically having the relaxing sleep a hammock provides, plus the protection of a tent. And it sets up this way easily and all. However there is a critical design flaw that I found unbearable. The zippers on both ends of the tent (and rain fly) that let the hammock in are only one way zippers. This means that There is no way to properly enclose the hammock inside the tent and fly. The bottom half of the tent (below the entry points of the hammock) has to swing gaping open on both ends! It sort of defeats the purpose of having the tent that can surround the hammock, when both ends of the tent must be left wide open for insects, weather, and all sorts of things to make their way inside. If a second zipper was added on the tent and fly ends that one could work from the bottom, (allowing one to zip the tent closed around the ends of the hammock) this might be a much better product.

I was excited when I heard about the S3 EMS tent. I ripped open the bag in the store. I have set up many tents in my day though must say I need to look at the directions on how this 3 in 1 ultra light tent (5lbs total does not seem very ultra light) needed to be set up. But wait, where were they. EMS years ago started to sew the tent instructions on the pole bag. I check another tent and still no instructions. I spend 30 minutes setting up the tent trying to get the configurations. I guess the Hammock can be used inside the tent, under the fly or alone. Yet the webbing of the hammock seemed it would always bring water under the fly or in the tent. The hammock it self is an Army style where you sleep end to end. Not as comfortable as an Amazon style hammock where you sleep diagonal. I am sorry to say there was nothing easy, light, cheap or comfortable The EMS S3. I think someone needed to product test this team in the real world. Do not get me wrong I love EMS, but sometimes I wonder, “What were they thinking”
