Not what we had in mind

Cons:
Flimsy Construction, Poor Fly Design, Too Cramped
Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We bought this tent to be used as a medium between a recreational shelter - ie: car camping, beach camping, etc. and a lightweight tent we could carry with us on hiking and backpacking excursions. While it is light and easy to pack up and carry, it was more difficult to set up then we expected and needed surrouding trees or poles for the fly. It was also listed as a three person tent, which is certainly is not. There was barely enough room for 2, and we left our packs etc. outside. We only used the tent once and I already noticed some shredding of the fabric along the seams. If someone were going to buy this tent, I would reposition it as a true lightweight tent for minimalist campers. Although I am still not sure it would hold up well over time.

Eastern Mountain Sports Response:Of course we're disappointed your new tent wasn't what you were hoping for and hope you have already returned it for something more suitable. That said...we're not sure what you mean with regard to needing trees or poles for the fly? This tent like all tents will need to be staked down for protection against wind...but shouldn't need any surrounding anythings to aid in it's set up. The material should be able to withstand some serious use and abuse as well. We'd love to get you into something that would work...and talk about some of the other issues with you. Keep in mind...Our first priority is your complete satisfaction with your Eastern Mountain Sports® purchase.

This tent is ideal for two people, very cramped for three. It was easy to set up, very compact, lightweight. The only downside is it was a bit tough to take down. And trust me, this is perfect, I was just trying to come up with one negative thing.

This tent held up against a pretty serious thunderstorm on its first night out. The rain fly is amazing and we were perfectly dry all night. The next night the temps dropped to about 38F (from around 75F during the day) so we had an issue with condensation inside. There are 2 vents in the ceiling of the rain fly that are nice, but not necessarily enough for ventilation. Other than that though the tent was up in <5 mins and down just as quickly. The people I was camping with were actually surprised how easily it was setup. A few people came to help but by the time they got to me the tent was 80% up. I can't speak highly enough about the ease of use!

little rough to setup the first few times. Could be because my brothers are lazy, and im usually the only one setting up this 3 person tent. Little cramped for 3, perfect for 2 big guys. Kind of pricy, but its light weight, durability, and waterproof walls made it a pretty good buy[...]!
