The best laptop bag I have ever encountered. I have a rather large laptop and it fits with no problems. Plenty of protection from the outsife environment and adequate cushioning. Enough pockets for a marine and highly organizable. The only issue maybe that the water bottle pockets tend to be a little small. If they had tie or pull straps it might have worked better. Great for use with larger laptops and for overall carry-all. All around great back for the professional and for the everyday work horse.
This bag is kind of big, and can fit not only my computer and accesories, but also all my folders, binders, etc. The only problem I have is that it fits so much that I make it really heavy. Good thing the shoulder strap is comfortable.
This bag is great. I use it whenever I need to bring my laptop to class. It holds my laptop and all my books way more comfortably than my Recon bookbag does. I actually find myself having lots of extra room with this bag, it's huge! The North Face always has great products and if you're looking for a laptop bag that will carry way more than just that, get this bag.
Wanted to replace a 10 yr old bag, was disappointed this was larger than expected. Other features are nice and well designed.
ive had great success with this bag so far and i think i will be using this for at least the rest of my education.
It will simply be the last laptop bag that you will ever have to purchase. It's large enough to hold your laptop and carry you textbooks, and notebooks. There are compartments for folders, ipods, waterbottles, etc. The only con however is that the cushioning in the laptop compartment is slim.
Very good bad, would like two sets of compression straps, one set near the bottom and one set near the top. No way to lock the zippers. When the bag only has a few items inside it stars to curve to the front.
This is a very nice bag. Very durable and plenty of compartments. The water bottle holders are nice, but you need to cram a Nalgene in the firs few times 'till it loosens up.
As a college professor I need to carry lots of grading and books as well as my computer. Other bags just didn't fit everything I needed to carry. If you need lots of room and good organization, this is the bag.
The outside mesh pockets are great for water bottles or coffee thermos and front mesh works to carry my lunch and extra layers.
I highly recommend if you need lots of room!
I think this is a great bag. It has all the features/uses of a briefcase with a more outdoorsy look. Its very big and can fit the largest of laptops but compresses when empty so it doesn't look bulky. My only gripes are that the fabric has a lot of sheen, probably to be seen at night, but it looks too shiny and the grab handle should have been better/more comfortable. The shoulder strap, however, is great and very comfortable (and used more anyway.)

I needed a commuter bag with plenty of storage and high durability. I needed plenty of strorage for school books, excellent protection for my laptop, and extra pockets for 14 hr days in another city.
In all of these fields, this bag excels- there is more than sufficient, organized pocket space, an excellent pocket for my laptop, etc. It seems to be built with high durability in mind- I have the feeling I could drag things along with me for years to come.
And DRAG I will. I quickly have found that the bag is excessive in bulk even when it is nearly empty, and seems to be very heavy without much in it. It obviously will be heavy with a computer and books, but even without these, it has a substantial heft.
The shoulder strap also seems awkward and does little to adjust the bag's weight ergonomically.
All in all, I'll keep the bag for travelling, but I need to find another, lighter, bag for my commute.
I purchased this bag because I needed a laptop bag with room for more than just a laptop. This bag delivers. The bag has a dedicated pocket for the laptop, another wide pocket for books and papers (with three file-like pockets for papers), A large pocket with numerous organizer pockets for all the little stuff (pens, flash drives, cell phone, etc.), a dedicated pocket for MP3 player or other device, an outside mesh pocket to put stuff in a hurry, and finally, two water bottle pockets. That's a whole lot of pockets! I can carry everything I need in it.
It is a bit expensive, but it is a North Face bag. North Face makes great products with lifetime warranties, and their products are usually very well constructed, as this bag is.
It's comfortable, until you put about 40 pounds in it, which most people wouldn't (unlike me). It's well organized, and facilitates organization of stuff, which is great for us OCD types. I know right where to find stuff.
As far as cons go, the only one might be the price. This bag usually goes for $[...]. I thought this was a little steep, but it really isn't when considering comparable bags and features. [...]
All in all, this bag is perfect for those who need to carry a lot of stuff. Of course, it works fine with less stuff also (it has cinche straps to take up any slack). If you're looking for a quality large capacity laptop bag, this is about the best you're likely to find.
I am a work at home employee, when I have to go into the office this bag it great. It holds a boat load of stuff and its way better than those lame black plether bags everyone else is carrying...
After 18 year of lugging around lap top computers, files and note books in poorly designed carrying case final there is a bag that meets all my needs in one compact, well designed and user friendly bag.

This extremely good-looking bag is huge. Too big for my taste and height (5'4"). Its volume equals my North Face Recon but it looks much bigger. It's too bulky to put over my 20" wheeled carry-on for flights. My Inspiron 710m slides easily into a minor pocket. So I gave it to my brother, who LOVES it. He's 6' tall and a law student. It fits him well. More importantly, it carries his thick text books, school supplies and his Sony Vaio laptop (17" screen). Previously, he had to separate them into two different bags: Sony notebook bag and the North Face Firewall (1850 cu) for books. Now, he only carries this to school.
