I use this strap on my messenger bag and it's great! The padding takes all the pressure off my shoulder.

I got this as a replacement strap for my work bag, and it's much more comfortable than the original. I'm a reporter, so I'm running around a lot and appreciate a comfortable shoulder strap. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I am using the padded shoulder strap on a multi-purpose shoulder bag in which I carry our four scuba regulators, dive computers, presciption masks, and my underwater camera equipment. There is no way I am checking that stuff. But it weighs 35-40 lbs. Long walks to the gate through airports used to leave me with really beat-up shoulders. This padded shoulder strap works well. I am very pleased.
The following is also important - the response that I got when I sent a note asking about load carrying comfort was honest and straightforward. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. It is great to deal with people who are in business not only to sell their products but to do it with integrity.

Very nice strap from MountainSmith- with all the quality and padding you would expect- just wish it came with MountainSmith equipment, and wasn't a separate charge. It is transferable to other bags.

I purchased this with a Mountainsmith Extra-small tote. It's a little much for a smaller bag, but extremely useful to have. I don't always use it with my tote, but there are times I'm so glad I do have the strap to use. The anti-slip on the shoulder pad is a helpful addition to a basic strap, and the clips lock on to the loops on the bag. It's very comfy, even when I've jammed all but the kitchen sink in my tote.
