I bought this bag mainly for the water bottle side pockets, the look, and the reputation of the North Face. I use it primarily as a book bag to lug to school. I am impressed with the comfort of the straps and the overall durability and design. However, I was disappointed with the amount of space available. I can only carry one binder, a few small notebooks, and up to two textbooks in the main pocket. I was expecting to have a little more space than that, and have noticed that it is difficult to pack a small purse and a few granola bars in the small pocket once I filled the main one, so I wasn't thrilled about that. Indeed, it looks as though it is built to hold a laptop and a few small notebooks, but unfortunately, not too much else. However, I don't need to carry more than 2 books at a time for my classes, so it's not a huge problem for me. Overall, the bag is well-crafted, comfortable and a good buy. Perfect for day trips outdoors if you plan on packing fairly light. If you're looking for something just to carry the basics, this is a great choice. If you're looking for something to carry plenty of items or more than 2 textbooks, you should try a bag with more space.
It amazing how much 'stuff' you can cram in this bag. The front pocket is a little too deep to make finding things easy or quick, but thats the only drawback. And even with all this 'stuff' packed into it, it still is as comfortable as ever to wear...great find at a great price!
