Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I have taken these poles on two serious winter hikes in the White Mountains so far, North Kinsman and Madison, and they have been great. They adjust more easily and hold better than my old twist-style poles. The straps are also easier to adjust. Also the little baskets easily screw off and I was able to use them to hold on my old snow baskets.
