Bought these on a recommendation [...], and had definitely noted they were going to be used for heavier duty hiking. Was happy with them initially, especially the snap lock system, and was looking forward to taking them on an 8 day excursion for their first use in the Teton Wilderness in WY. On day 2, descending a scree field, one pole snapped and the other bent badly enough as to be unusable. Both were bent/broken in the thinnest telescoping part - the bottom third. Made the rest of the trip a pain, especially with so many river crossings with bottoms that could not be seen. Totally useless piece of equipment, and Black Diamond should be ashamed for putting out poles that supposedly can be used on rugged trail that are, in reality, terribly brittle. I packed out pole pieces and plan on returning to EMS store to return them. No way should I have to pay [$]for one time use hiking poles.

A good product, easy to adjust.

I use the poles for hiking, expecially steep downhills. They are easily adjustable. The handles are well-designed, but the black dye on them rubs off on my sweaty hands; I find this to be annoying.

Heavier than carbon but tough

Not lightweight compared to carbon poles but very strong, easy to adjust, and not too expensive. These really take the strain off your knees during a long hike or with a heavy pack. Also help on steep ascents/descents.

My friend and I each bought these poles after seeing several people hiking in the mountains outside of Santa Fe. We both have some knee/back issues and they are wonderful for stability and spreading the work-out to the upper body. I feel like I walk straighter, longer and without the after walk aches and pains. However, we had to go to a local mountain store to find rubber tips for walking in-town (seems like they should be included) and for advice on pole height to avoid stress or injury--arms at a 90 degree angle. Overall, they are fabulous, my new favorite piece of workout equipment!

Loved these poles. I was able to purchase snow baskets and they performed great. Looking forward to using them hiking with the regular baskets. I really like the grips as they are very comfortable and don't get cold due to material. Straps are slight padded and easily adjustable. Flick lock makes length adjustment a breeze, even with gloves.
