I use it when I travel and for my hiking trips.
It is great . altimeter and barometer work quite accurate .
The watch is nice and fairly easy to use once you get the hang of it. The alarm isn't so loud as my old HiGear was, so if you're a heavy sleeper, don't bank on this waking you up until you're used to it!
The altimeter/barometer is pretty accurate and precise. I like the count-down timer too. I wish the watch could display time, altitude and temp concurently. Alas...
The band feels pretty cheesey and probably won't last terribly long. I think I've read that there's a better (i.e., stronger) band available.
All in all, it's a good, useful watch/altimeter/....
Good watch with great features. The storm alarm, sunrise/sunset times for example are really useful when out on the hill and can keep you ahead of the game. The battery life however isn't so impressive. Mine was brand new (not even running in the box) in June and it has died already! And in case you're thinking I use the altimeter/backlight/compass loads and leave them running - I don't!
I just recently received this watch and although its obnoxiously large face may be out of place style wise for some during everyday use, it seems to get the job done when in the backcountry. So far very accurate, and has lots of fancy bells and whistles. Also this watch is very lightweight on your wrist, and very confortable compared to other altimeter watches I have owned or tried from friends.
I use this watch for sailing and flying. The storm alarm is a great feature.
The Suunto Core is the Best Alti/Barm I have seen and used. It is my favorite item I take into the woods.
