I used these gaitors while backpacking and my main purpose was to sheild dust, rocks, and small amounts of moisture away from my boots. I love the material as its more form fitting than most gaiters. Easy on, easy off and they clean easily also. A bit warm at times, but hey, its summer.

I use the product running in the winter. It has a great fit over running shoes. I found the laces to come off so I stop using them and I never had a problem with the gaitors sliping off.

good buy
By McGonagallVerified Reviewer from Piscataway, NJ on 7/30/2007
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Pros:
Breathes Well, comfortable, Fast on and off, Flexible material, Good material, Water Resistant
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

With its stretchy breathable material, the gaiters are very comfortable, fast to put on and off, and they keep dust, mudd, rocks and light rain or water from wet grass out of my low-cut boots. They also help to keep my shoe laces tight.
It is good, however, to carry a spare lace in case you wear out one under your shoe (happened to me).

Like 'em
By outdoorlightweightVerified Reviewer from sunny CNY on 2/6/2007
Pros:
Lightweight, Packs Well, Rugged
Best Uses:
Snowshoe hiking
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like these short gaiters. Not too obtrusive and easy to put on, so I can use them around town on very snowy days if needed. Mostly, I got them for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and shovelling the driveway - just light-duty stuff. But the gaiters seem durable enough for a tougher workout than I give them.
So far, so good except for one thing: I think some people will find them a little small in circumference. I put them on over a pair of jeans and boots and they fit, but it's close. If you're a large person, you may be unhappy with the size of these.

excellent low gaiters
By Yankee ClipperVerified Reviewer from New York metro area on 1/2/2007
Pros:
Breathable, Lightweight, Packs Well, Rugged
Cons:
No upper snapclosure, Only one size
Best Uses:
Off-trail hiking

an excellent low gaiter. super-breathable. easy to put on and take off, and very compact. a bit too small, even though stretchable, because there's only one size. no snap or closure on the top, so when the velcro weakens (as it always does), the gaiter may not stay closed.

wouldn't leave home without them
By Indiana PeteVerified Reviewer from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada on 10/5/2006
Pros:
Breathable, Durable, Easy to put on, Fits many types of boots
Cons:
Straps wear
Best Uses:
Adventuring Racing, Hiking, Mountain biking, Sking, Snowshoeing

These gaiters have met my needs in several ways. First, they are very easy to put and take off. They don't have buckles, zippers or pull cords to mess with which is important when fording rivers, or when winter hiking and skiing. Just a simple velcro closure which does up easily and quickly and which stays closed.

Second, the four way stretch allows me to use them on all my boots, trail shoes, backpacking boots, and ski boots without having to adjust the bottom strap. Note, the strap did wear through on one occassion. I had been climbing on the rocks and boulders of Mt. Katahdin, Maine, when this happened. The gaiter stayed in position so it wasn't a big deal, and when I got home I replaced the broken one with a shoe lace.

Third, they are indeed water resistant and while they will not prevent my feet from getting wet from a full dunking they do a good job of keeping my feet dry when walking in heavy dew, or when pedaling through water holes when mountain biking.

Fourth, in winter they keep my feet warmer so I can wear a lighter boot and sock, (especially when snowshoeing) when weight on your feet means a great deal.

Fifth, they do breath and condensation (sweat) does not build up on the insides, even when running hard in July heat.

Sixth, perhaps a small point but never-the-less a significant one - my wife likes the fact they prevent our socks from getting all muddy. Yes, she liked them so much she requested a pair of her own.

Seventh, they do an excellent job of preventing my laces for catching on roots and rocks which happened to me on a hillside high enough to cause my life to flash in front of my eyes. And of course they prevent my laces from coming undone.

Eight, the main reason why these gaiters are such a prized possesion is the fact they comfortably and completely keep dirt, rocks, snow, and debris from entering my boot. This is why I bought them and they perform exceptionally well. Stopping to remove a rock or other such bothersome item not only loses time, but also momentum and that sense of flow that is so enjoyable when travelling through the outdoors.

Great Dry-Condition Gear
By Hiker3854Verified Reviewer from Plattsburgh, NY on 10/4/2006
Pros:
Keeps debris out, Lightweight, Packs Well, Stylish
Cons:
Doesn't keep water out
Best Uses:
Hiking

These gaiters are good at keeping debris out of your boots and are much more comfortable than full gaiters. However they are a stretch fabric and offer no water repellancy when it comes to stream crossings or rain. In real wet conditions I would opt for full gaiters, otherwise these are a nice addition to my vast collection of gear, have gotten a lot of use in a short amount of time, and have yet to show any signs of wear
