It does the job it is advertised to do: it allows you to carry assembled and strung up rods (fly or surf casting) in relative security. I wouldn't leave a rod there overnight, though, because it looks to me as if you could pop the lid with a beer can opener. It will help get you from Point A to Point B on the stream or at the beach, and will keep your dog from breaking that favorite rod you propped between the seats. Oh, one other thing: I think I'd keep the speedometer well under mach one when that megabuck supermodulus graphite and kryptonite rod is up there. Tight Lines!
Met my expectations plus more.
-Unboxed and mounted to my thule rack in less than 15 minutes.
-Came with its own lock and 2 keys one less trip that I have to make which was nice. Very secure locking mechanism through my own testing.
-Fit 3 bass rods and a two piece fly rod with reels attached with no problem.
[...] As for the cast away, there is too much plastic making up the product. It is hard to latch/unlatch and lock. My rack was about the same price and has far greater quality. If I was a theif the medium of this product would not deter me from taking a "crack" at it. Good for cheaper rods/reels. Only holds 3 medium size reels.
