I really like these shoes. These are my second pair. They hold up well on the pavement, and perform great on trails. Very comfortable, breathable, and dry quickly. The only down-side is that they are a little heavy, but as far as trail runners go, these are great.

using them for landscape work, and everyday wear. lightweight and cool during summer season. I just have to watch the fact that they are low cut, and where I step. Easy to roll my ankles, which are probably weak from past sprains, etc. I just pick and choose what days to wear them!! Other then that they are great.

MY first pair of Salomons...I wear these daily at work. I do a lot of walking on concrete floors etc. So far these are quite comfortable, and of course they're ready for any conditions. Love the laces...would've given 5 stars but haven't really worn them enough, but I highly recommend them.

I had to return these Salomon shoes due to a narrow fit. I had tried them on in a store and they seemed fine. The pair I received were narrow and uncomfortable.

Went hiking in the AT...everyone else wore 2 pairs of socks to reduce the risk of blistering. I only wore 1 pair, guess what no blisters. These shoes are extremely comfortable, with no sliding and a true fit. Quick drying with great traction. Only wish EMS sold them with more color options.

I live in Maine and frequently take off on various outdoor adventures. These kicks have been fantastic in rain, mud, snow and all sorts of trail running. They hardly show dirt, and as advertised, your feet will never get wet. HOWEVER, there are two things you should consider before dropping the big bucks on these bad boys:

First, these are not summer shoes. I love the Gortex layer to death, but these things are seriously hot in the summer and if you're doing any sort of running with them, your feet will be COOKED. Use these shoes in the cooler months.

Secondy, I have had numerous Salomon shoes, and these are the first with which I experienced CONSIDERABLE premature tread wear. (Less than a year, and the rubber is gone in spots). Granted, I've beaten these things to death, but still I'd like to see an updated and more durable rubber compound in the treads.

Aside from those precautions, you can bet that your money will be well spent on these shoes. They are so versatile that you'll feel like a super-hero, and the styling is simply awesome.

Cheers

I use these primarily for trail running and will use them for cooler temp adventure races. I've run with them on the treadmill, the road, grass and on the trail and they're great. Solid traction, good trail feel and good support. So far I think they're perfect for cooler/cold weather but may be too warm for hotter weather (I'll use the non-gtx version, also awesome). I wear with coolmax blend athletic socks and they feel great. The insert isn't the best for me but I won't knock the shoe since this is an individual thing; not terrible but I may buy an aftermarket insert. Overall, highly recommended!

These are a great pair of shoes. I just did 2 weeks worth of hiking in the Pacific Northwest with them. They kept the water out and had great traction. There was no need to break them in, I wore them on the trail right out of the box. I would recommend wearing some wicking wool socks because they can get warm. Also if you get water inside them it takes a long time to dry them out and it becomes uncomfortable to slosh around with them.

These are overall comfortable, reasonably fast, very stable and have good traction in most conditions (except deep mud). I especially find them useful for fast running on bare rock ridge type trails where the traction and stability are both very good. However, if you have a high instep / arch them beware of the laces. They are very thin and there is no way to relace / adjust them to avoid them biting into the top of the foot. I also find the heel cushioning to be too hard for fast downhills on rocks, though replacing the midsole to fix this problem was easy enough.

Brought these to wear during colder months instead of the mesh upper XA Pro (non XCR), which I have had for months and love.
I take these on business travel all the time as (i) Really like the draw cord instead of laces for getting through the screening at the airport (ii) can use these in the gym and out casually as they look great.
Granted these are not exactly "fitness purist" reasons for buying these, but they are comfortable!

I thought when I got the North Face XRC trail shoes I had the best I could get. I run in the woods on Mt Bike trails will loose rocks, sticks, leaves, never flat. I have now put about 20 miles on these shoes and they are the best I have ever used for this purpose.

I have yet to turn my ankle with these shoes or have any sort of problem except the time to use them as often I would like to.

I have problematic feet (flat, with bunions) and these are the only shoes I can wear for hours with no problems. They do not have a lot of arch support, but that works for me. I also have a pair that are not waterproof, but when it's cold, I can feel the wind through them, so I prefer the Gore-Tex ones.
