This jacket is everything I thought it would be and more. I have not used it in any outdoor activities yet, but it has served me well as a wet weather coat. The shell does not absorb any water and for its weight, the Synchro keeps me EXTREMELY warm. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who is looking for a light weight jacket which is 100% waterproof and quite warm.
This coat is much nicer looking on than I thought it would. It fits more snug than I would've expected it to, but it does not rub, so I think it fits perfect. It's a little warmer than I expected, I was looking for a replacement to a simple shell and this is a little more than that with it's thin fleece liner. fortunately, in ROC we have lots of opportunities to wear coats like this.
I found it to be perfect for that application, high energy activity in the cold, rainy, windy environment. I do not agree with previous reviews regarding the length of this jacket. Opening the pockets adds extra ventilation when your core temperature starts to climb. Excellent for hiking, running, roller skiing.
I think that this is a great soft shell. I wear it for everyday use as well as for a insulating layer under my ski jacket on those cold New England days. I would recomend getting this shell to anyone looking for quality outdoor gear.
I love my MHW Synchro jacket. I understand the comments about the torso being a bit short, however as I use mine primarily as a mid layer, underneath a shell, the fit and length is perfect. Jacket packs down small, has a LOT of warmth for its size and thinnes, and works great as a mid layer. I also like the form fit, but if you've got a belly you might not.
After two hard seasons of winter mountaineering in the Whites that jacket still looks brand-new -- a nice bonus. Wears well and looks nice for casual use, too. Also works EXTREMELY well as a running jacket, due to the form fit, water/wind proofness, and stretch nature of the material.
I particularly like the collar drawcord, the soft material of the collar, and the stretch wrist cuffs. For my use I do wish it had pit zips, though.
Very convenient, looks great, not sufficient for cold weather, but perfect for spring in MA
great jacket however u need to wash it with expensive waterproofing detergents and u dont want to wash it frequently. it pills a lot and really easily. but is warm light weight and waterproof.
This jacket is great for skiing in temps in the 20's and above. I even got caught skiing in a heavy rainstorm and it shed water like a seal's skin (looked like it, too) and I stayed warm and dry. I prefer this soft shell over bulkier hardshell jackets.
This jacket is light enough to wear the entire spring and fall, and with a sweatshirt or fleece underneath even the coldest winter days, goes great under a hard shell, it's the best jacket i've ever owned, i wear it work in NYC and ski in VT/CO, its very versatile, I couldn't be happier with it.
This jacket did not meet expecations because the sizing was off. By the time we returned it, the colors were gone and choices were limited. We purchased a Mountain Hardware Jacket in its place.
I bought this for a friend and he absolutely loves it. He hates wearing heavy winter coats, so this is a great alternative for him. Plus, it looks really cool on him!
This jacket is so comfortable. Recently on Mt. Washington it proved its' versatility and windproofing. Besides comfort, my favorite feature is the neck drawcord which is a feature I haven't seen on other jackets in it's class. It really helps keep the warmth in when needed. On my last hike I wore this with a fleece shirt, and added my shell near the summit when the wind and cold really increased. Dries quickly too.
I must be too picky. When it comes to soft shell or first layer insulation, I just can't seem to find a perfect jacket. [...] It's only marginally waterproof, hardly cuts the wind and the right arm zipper is practically useless when you're wearing the jacket because it is impossible to operate the zipper. However, and [...] this is a BIG however, this jacket is great under a hard shell. I chose the Mountain Hardwear Cohesion shell. In this use, it is quite warm and the outer hard shell cuts the rain and wind way better then this jacket does on its own.A few positives, the colors that Mountain Hardwear manufactures their equipment in are more conducive to real outdoor use. The colors are bright and would be easy to spot in an emergency situation [...]. Also, the garments do feel quite durable. I have put both the Cohesion hard shell and this Synchro soft shell through the wash and both still feel new. The fabric also just feels tougher. The hand pockets are deep and the breast pocket is just the right size for a cell phone and keys or GPS unit.If you own a hard shell or are planning to purchase one, I would definately recommend this jacket. If not, you might be out of luck.
This jacket was purchased as a Christmas gift for our 19 year-old son & he loves it! He wore it the entire time he was home for Christmas. We thought it was especially noteworthy that it really does repel water! This was a gift that met all of our expectations & then some!
I loved, this jacket, It is better than I expected. It is so warm and comfortable. It looks great on.

I wear this jacket 3 seasons out of the year! I use it for skiing and snowboarding, hiking in the fall and the rains of spring, and just around town. Its an all around great jacket. I do wish that it was vented a little bit better but i love this jacket. Its my favorite coat.
Lightweight and streamlined. Fits close to the body, but allows for full, unobstructed movement.
In Scotland on a job (on a survey vessel) and called into the rugged Shetland islands due to a force 11-12 storm at Sea. Not the best time to go ashore for a hike on the rugged but beautiful island, but the Jacket was excellent. The horizontal 70mph sleet/rain/snow (sometimes all 3 at once!) just wicked right off of the jacket and when I got back to the vessel, my undergarments were bone dry and I was still warm. Pity I couldn't say the same about my head - I Forgot my hat!
All in all an excellent product. Also if you ever get the chance - visit Scotland, the people are great and the scenery is stunning!
The product is lightweight durable. I bought this for it's versatility especially for use in cold windy weather, biking, and skiing. Thus far I'm impressed with the quality and protection this jacket offers. Definitely a must have for the winter and better than other brands out there.
This jacket is very very durable and light, it kept me completely dry while hiking 4 hours in the pouring rain. Lots of pockets, fits comfortably, and is worth the high price.
