I purchased this jacket during the winter, and it worked reasonably well as a shell for snowshoeing in colder temps, despite being a bit noisy.
I recently had an opportunity to try it on a warm and humid day, walking to work in a light rain. Despite having the pit zips wide open, this jacket did not breathe at all, and the inside of the sleeves felt very clammy and uncomfortable.
I'll keep it for winter use, but I'm looking for something else for the summer.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:I'm not sure any waterproof jacket no matter how breathable it is touted to be would keep you cool on a humid summer day. Hard to get more breathable than having Pit Zips wide open. Keep in mind...Our first priority is your complete satisfaction with your Eastern Mountain Sports® purchase.

I recently moved back to Portland, OR and bought this jacket in preparation for the ever rainy climate. It effortlessly repels water and remains light and free of humidity even in a warm downpour. The jacket is warm enough to keep you comfortable in mid30 degrees, which is unexpected since it is so light. Wating for the MAX in a downpour, or taking a light hike in the rain, this jacket works extremely well.

I have yet to test it in the field, but I have worn it during some wet weather and it kept me dry best as any other jacket I've ever worn. Very light and packable, folds into the hood, I haven't found the pocket it folds into, if it at all does that. Size is perfect, I'm not big, and I am not small either, enough room to not feel claustrophobic, but not falling off you either. Overall I am very satisfied. It was that, or some gortex jacket that costs hundreds! Definitely worth the price.

The color is very good for everyday wear, not bright and flamboyant like some rain jackets. There are plenty of pockets and the hood fits very well. Most rain jackets have a major flaw... the hood not fitting bigger headed guys.

I bought this jacket for my 20 year old son that lives in Quebec. This is the second one I have purchased for him the other lasted about 4 years. He wears it all the time, spring, summer, fall and even in the winter (not all winter) with layers. He uses it as a shell even when he skis! His only comment about the new jacket is the pocket placement. There are pockets on the inside. His comment was if it is raining or snowing who wants to open up their jacket to get stuff out of the pockets? True, but he wears this one all the time too.

Everything about this jacket was great except the hood. It is fixed and in the way when not needed. Wish that the jacket had a pocket around the neck so the hood could be folded and hidden when not needed. Hated to return it, but did.

This is my third one of these. I had the original design which got damaged and Ireplaced with last years version ( which was terrible), so when this design came out, which is just like the first I had, I hovered until I could trade #2 with this one because of the redesign. The last one had vents thatgot covered by back pack shoulder straps, less pockes, and the crinkle of the cloth moving was loud and annoying. The new one put the vents back under the arm, added pockets, and has better fabric that is more flexible and waterproof. I keep itnd matching rain pants (from different supplier) in my car all the time... they beat an umbrella in an emergency, or a spontaneous hike.

Perfoms well in light rain, but once the skies really start drenching you, water soaks right through the fabric.
